The team’s President of Hockey Operations and General Manager, Don Waddell, announced today that the Columbus Blue Jackets have brought goaltender Jet Greaves onto the roster on an emergency recall from their American Hockey League affiliate, the Cleveland Monsters.
Greaves, who is 23 years old, has a record of 3 wins, 7 losses, and 0 ties, with a 3.44 goals-against average (GAA) and a .912 save percentage (SV%) in 10 games with Columbus since his NHL debut on Apr. 4, 2023, in Toronto. Concluding the season with a record of 8 wins and 5 losses, a goals against average of 2.17, and a save percentage of .926 in 13 games. This afternoon, the Blue Jackets will play against the Calgary Flames in their next game.
Charlie Lindgren provided the Tampa Bay Lightning with the ultimate present on Wednesday evening.
Lindgren guarded the goal for the Washington Capitals in Florida on Thanksgiving Eve while the game was deadlocked at 3 in the final period.
Thanks to him, that was no longer true. As the puck slowly moved into the defensive side of the Washington zone, Lindgren left the crease to handle it. Lindgren intended to transfer it to a teammate, but the goal obstructed his path.
Instead of making a pass, Lindgren inadvertently directed the puck into his own net, allowing the Lightning to take a 4-3 lead.
Lindgren entered the competition with a 2.64 goals-against average. Regrettably, the figure increased as a result of his own efforts.
Jakob Chychrun, who was the inaugural recipient of the Capitals’ gold chain, transferred it to Charlie Lindgren in recognition of his mistake, which benefitted the capitals. Laughter filled the locker room as Lindgren embraced Chychrun, an important member of the Caps’ defensive line. Following the intimate moment, Lindgren received the award and gave a brief yet sincere speech.
Fortunately for the Caps, the astonishing goal did not devastate them too badly, as they ultimately ended up victorious in the game.
Vice president and general manager Julien BriseBois has made an announcement today regarding the recall of goaltender Matt Tomkins from the Syracuse Crunch of the American Hockey League by the Tampa Bay Lightning.
Tomkins, standing at 6-foot-4 and weighing 191 pounds, has participated in eight matches for the Crunch this year, achieving a 3.12 goals-against average and an .890 save percentage. He has played in a combined 73 AHL games with Syracuse and the Rockford IceHogs, averaging 3.00 goals against and .898 save percentage, with a 29-37-6 record.
The individual from Edmonton, Alberta has participated in six NHL games in their career, all with the Lightning, in the 2023-24 season. His record stands at 3 wins, 2 losses, and 1 tie, with a save percentage of .892 and a goals-against average of 3.33.
In the seventh round of the 2012 NHL Draft, Tomkins was selected by the Chicago Blackhawks as the 199th overall pick. The Lightning added him to their roster as a free agent on May 10, 2023.
The LA Kings have released information about various changes to their roster.
Forward Andre Lee has been brought up on short notice from their AHL team, the Ontario Reign.
24-year-old Lee played in two matches with the Ontario Reign, providing an assist in their most recent win against San Diego on Saturday and ending with a plus-one rating. He made his NHL debut with the Kings at the beginning of the 2024-25 season and registered two assists in 15 games.
Originally from Karlstad, Sweden, Lee has played on and off for four seasons with Ontario, amassing a total of 25 points (14 goals, 11 assists) in 107 AHL games. In his most recent season, he achieved personal bests in goals (8), assists (5), and points (13) in 36 games.
Forward Akil Thomas has been placed on the injured reserve list (IR).
Thomas, who tallied one goal and one assist in 10 games this season, most recently appeared in Wednesday’s 7-2 defeat against San Jose. This IR action is anticipated to apply retroactively from that specific date. Although Thomas may eventually go back to playing on the fourth line after recovering, there is no certainty that he will maintain his spot in the lineup.
