Olivier Sarr
Olivier Sarr, born on February 20, 1999, in Niort, France, is a French professional basketball player. Standing 2.08 meters tall and weighing 109 kg, he plays as a center. Sarr is of Senegalese descent, and his father also played professional basketball in France. He is the older brother of basketball player Alex Sarr, who plays for the NBA’s Washington Wizards. Sarr’s college career spanned Wake Forest and Kentucky. He played for the Wake Forest Demon Deacons from 2017 to 2020. As a freshman in the 2017-18 season, he appeared in 30 games off the bench, averaging 3.2 points and 3.0 rebounds per game. He gained 9 kilograms before his sophomore season (2018-19), where he started 16 of 25 games, averaging 6.2 points and 5.5 rebounds per game, and led the team with 25 blocks. In his junior year (2019-20), Sarr was named Third Team All-ACC and was runner-up for ACC Most Improved Player, averaging 13.7 points and 9.0 rebounds per game in 30 appearances (15 starts). For the 2020-21 season, Sarr transferred to the University of Kentucky, where he played for the Wildcats. He received immediate eligibility on October 21, 2020, and averaged 10.8 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 1.2 blocks per game. After his college career, Olivier Sarr declared for the 2021 NBA draft but was not selected. Despite this, he continued his professional career from 2021 to the present and is currently a free agent. Internationally, Sarr has represented France. He participated in the 2016 FIBA U-17 World Championship in Zaragoza, Spain, where he averaged 4.4 points and 4 rebounds per game, helping his team achieve a sixth-place finish. In 2017, he played in the FIBA U-18 European Championship in Slovakia, averaging 7.6 points and 5.4 rebounds per game for another French team that finished in sixth place.
