Egor Dëmin
Egor Dëmin is a Russian professional basketball player, born on March 3, 2006, in Moscow, Russia. His father, Vladimir, was also a basketball player, influencing Egor’s early immersion in the sport. He began his basketball journey at the Moscow Basketball Academy, also known as Trinta School, where he trained until 2021. During his time at the academy, he received offers from other prominent teams, including BC Khimki, but chose to remain at Trinta School until he was 15 to continue working with his coach, Evgeny Gorbunov. Dëmin is 2.03 meters tall and weighs 91 kg, and plays as a point guard or power forward.
Dëmin’s collegiate career saw him play for the BYU Cougars during the 2024-2025 season. As a freshman, he made a significant impact, appearing and starting in 33 games. He averaged 27.5 minutes per game, demonstrating his importance to the team. His statistical contributions included averages of 10.6 points, 5.5 assists, 3.9 rebounds, 1.2 steals, and 0.4 blocks per game. He shot 41.2% from the field, 27.3% from three-point range, and 69.5% from the free-throw line. His performance earned him several honors, including being named to the Big 12 All-Freshman Team and receiving an All-Big 12 honorable mention in 2025. He was also recognized as the Big 12 Freshman of the Week twice in November 2024 and was part of the Academic All-Big 12 Rookie Team in 2025. Prior to his time at BYU, Dëmin played for Real Madrid 2 during the 2023-2024 Spain EBA season, where he appeared in 21 games and averaged 13.0 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 4.3 assists per game. He shot 57.1% from the field, 33.6% from three-point range, and 78.4% from the free-throw line.
Egor Dëmin’s talent was recognized early, leading to his declaration for the 2025 NBA Draft after his sole season at BYU. He was selected as the 8th overall pick in the first round by the Brooklyn Nets on June 25, 2025, during the draft held at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y. This made him the fifth NBA lottery pick in BYU program history. Following his selection, Dëmin was officially signed by the Brooklyn Nets on July 3, 2025, commencing his professional NBA career. He is currently part of the Brooklyn Nets roster for the 2025-present season and continues to represent the Russian national team internationally. His early life in Moscow and dedicated training at Trinta School laid the foundation for his rapid ascent in the world of basketball, culminating in his highly anticipated entry into the NBA.
