Egor Demin is a rising name at the 2025 NBA Draft, he’s seen as one of the most promising international prospects from Russia in recent memory. He is one of the very few names from the Russian basketball world to make their way into the NBA.

The guard has had experiences in European competitions after playing for Real Madrid. He featured there for the Cadet A team, junior A team, and Real Madrid B in Spain’s Liga EBA. In 2024, he became BYU’s first ever five-star recruit, leaving a lasting impact.

Egor Demin is undoubtedly worth the lottery pick.

Egor Demin Scouting Report – Strengths and Weaknesses

Strengths

As a guard, Demin possesses elite playmaking vision, a trait that will define his role at the next level. At BYU, he was primarily viewed as a facilitator rather than a pure scoring threat. He averaged 5.5 assists per game for the BYU Cougars.

Demin’s off-ball movement emerged as one of his most effective tools during his college campaign. He finds pockets in zone defenses and is also skilled at relocating to the corner for curling around staggered screens for catch-and-shot looks.

He’s consistently engaged by diving for loose balls, rotating quickly, and sprinting back to defend in transition.

Weaknesses

Demin’s three point shooting has been below average. He averaged just 27.3 percent, which is quite low coming into the NBA as a guard.

Much like Brandon Podziemski, Demin tends to hesitate with the ball, leading to stalled possessions and contested attempts. This resulted in plenty of forced fade aways from Demin last season.

Egor Demin averaged 10.6 points, 5.5 assists, and 3.9 rebounds with a scoring efficiency of 41.2% during the 2024-25 NCAA season.

Demin accomplishments (2024-25)

The 19-year-old won the Most Valuable Newcomer at the BYU Awards. The awards are voted on by the coaching staff.

Egor Demin was Big 12 Freshman of the Week thrice over the course of the season. He did so in week 4, 9, and 14.

He was also part of the Big 12 All-Freshman Team awarded by the Big 12 coaches.

The Russian international has completed pre-draft workouts with several top-10 franchises, including the Utah Jazz (No. 5), Washington Wizards (No. 6), and New Orleans Pelicans (No. 7). He is expected to be a top 10 pick by the look of it.
