From Dallas Mavericks’ one-point win over Pelicans to Golden State Warriors weather Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s second 50-point performance, let’s go through the key highlights from the NBA action on Wednesday.
Brooklyn Nets snapped a seven-game losing streak with a 104-83 win over the short-handed Charlotte Hornets, who played without four regular starters including LaMelo Ball, Mark Williams, Brandon Miller and Josh Green. Keon Johnson scored 18 points, Jalen Wilson added 15 points and Tosan Evbuomwan had 14 in the win.
Ben Simmons finished with 10 points and six rebounds on his return after five-game absence. Miles Bridges dropped 23 points and 13 rebounds for Charlotte. Vasa Micic finished with 15 points and seven rebounds on his return after injury.

Pascal Siakam highlighted a 37-point performance to guide the Indiana Pacers for a second straight win against Detroit Pistons. Tyrese Haliburton dropped 30 points and eight assists. The duo went 25-for-38 from the floor. Myles Turner added 24 points for the Pacers.
Cade Cunningham was top performer for the Pistons with 32 points and nine assists. Malik Beasley added 20 points with six 3-pointers. Detroit reduced the deficit to six points in the fourth quarter but Pacers had a 9-2 run to end the game.
Toronto Raptors continued their comeback run with a fifth straight win in the NBA. Scottie Barnes scored 24 points and the Raptors beat NBA-worst Washington Wizards, who lost 15th straight game. Jakub Poetl scored 12 points, and eight rebounds and Toronto have won seven of eight games.
Raptors forced a season-high 27 turnovers and also conceded its fewest points of the season. Kyle Kuzma led the Wizards with 19 points and 10 rebounds. Raptors started on a 14-0 run and didn’t lose the advantage. Wizards had 15 turnovers in the first-half which helped Raptors to score 22 points and a 19-point lead at break.
Donovan Mitchell dropped 14th 30-point game of the season and Cleveland Cavaliers squeezed past Miami Heat 126-106. Ty Jerome scored 20 points off the bench and Evan Mobley had 22 points and 15 rebounds. Jarrett Allen contributed 12 points and 10 rebounds for the Caves, who won second straight after three-game losing streak.
Tyler Herro and Terry Rozier each added 22 points for the Heat. Bam Adebayo chipped in with 21 points and Duncan Robinson added 13. Caves have never lost a game after leading in the three quarters. Miami tried to pull off a comeback but Cavaliers had a 7-0 in the end.
Tyrese Maxey dropped another stunning show with 30 points as the Philadelphia 76ers defeated the Sacramento Kings for their fourth straight win. It was Maxey’s 12th consecutive game with 25 or more points. Kelly Oubre Jr. added 15 points, Eric Gordon had 14 and Ricky Council IV chipped in with 13 for the Sixers.
Malik Monk scored 16 of his 21 points in the first half while De’Aaron Fox added 19 points for the Kings. Domantas Sabonis posted his eighth triple-double of the season. Sacramento are 1-3 on their six-game road trip and the 76ers tied their season high with their fourth win in a row.
Kristaps Porzingis scored a season-high 34 points and Boston Celtics handed a 22-point blowout loss to the Chicago Bulls. Porzingis grabbed 11 rebounds and made a season-best eight 3-point shots. Jaylen Brown chipped in with 28 points, while Derrick White dropped 22.
Jayson Tatum contributed 16 points for Boston, who snapped a two-game losing streak at home. Coby White paced the Bulls with 16 points on his return after an ankle injury. The Bulls were playing without leading scorer Zach LaVine, who scored 36 points in Chicago’s win in Boston on Dec. 19. Chicago Bulls have now dropped eight of nine games.
Jalen Brunson dropped 30 points and 15 assists and the New York Knicks overcame Denver Nuggets to win their fifth straight game. OG Anunoby added 23 points and Karl-Anthony Towns had 14 points, and 10 rebounds.
Jamal Murray led Denver with 33 points. Nikola Jokic, who went to bench after two fouls in first two minutes, scored 17 points, six rebounds and six assists. Russell Westbrook added 14 points and 14 rebounds for the Nuggets, who are 0-3 in their five-game road trip. Their issues in defense continues and the Knicks are chasing highs in their offense.
A fourth quarter rally fueled by Kawhi Leonard and Norman Powell helped the Los Angeles Clippers beat the San Antonio Spurs. The Clippers duo scored 27 points each and Los Angeles outscored San Antonio 34-24 in the fourth. Ivica Zubac highlighted 21 points and 22 rebounds in the win.
Wembanyama led the Spurs with 23 points and 12 rebounds and he had an intense battle with Zubac on the court. Spurs rookie guard Stephon Castle added 20 points and Devin Vassell had 19. Spurs now lost five of six games and the only win came in the opener of NBA Paris games. Spurs owned a 17-9 run in the third quarter to take a one-point lead but Clippers closed out the game with 4th quarter surge.
Dallas Mavericks held the nerves to beat the New Orleans Pelicans 137-136 on Wednesday. P.J. Washington scored 25 points and 14 rebounds, including four 3-pointers in the fourth quarter. Kyrie Irving chipped in with 25 points and six assists while Klay Thompson had 20. Daniel Gafford added 22 points, 12 rebounds and five blocks.
Mavericks dominated the second half with scoring 80 points, shooting 65.9% from the field. Trey Murphy scored 32 points for the Pelicans, who dropped fourth straight game. Zion Williamson had 29 points, Dejounte Murray added 27 points and CJ McCollum had 23 points and 8 assists. The latter hit a 3-pointer at buzzer but Pelicans fell short.
Minnesota Timberwolves rallied near the end of the third quarter to beat the Phoenix Suns for their fourth straight victory. Anthony Edwards scored 33 points, and Julius Randle added 28. The Wolves held a four-point lead heading into the fourth and Nickeil Alexander-Walker (23 points) stretched it to 10 points.
Kevin Durant paced the Suns with 33 points while Devin Booker chipped in with 28. Bradley Beal had 17 points and Phoenix halted their three-game winning streak. Minnesota coach Chris Finch and forward Jaden McDaniels faced ejection during the game. Suns lost four-point first-half advantage to lose the game.
Golden State Warriors escaped from Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s career-night to beat the Western Conference-leading Oklahoma City Thunder. Shai finished with 52 points and become the third franchise player and first Canadian-born player to score multiple 50 points in a season. Isaiah Hartenstein grabbed 18 rebounds to support Gilgeous-Alexander.
Stephen Curry scored 21 points after missing the game against Utah Jazz and Andrew Wiggins had 27. Kevon Looney added 18 points off the bench and Gary Payton II dropped 15 points and nine rebounds. Curry also passed Ray Allen for 27th place on the career scoring list. The Warriors are 3-1 in their six-game homestand.
