Warriors’ Stephen Curry makes history in win over OKC, surpasses NBA Legend in All-Time scoring list!

Stephen Curry also won the USA Basketball 5-on-5 Male Athlete of the Year Award for the first time.

The Golden State Warriors defeated the Western Conference-leaders Oklahoma City Thunder in a highly anticipated clash at Chase Center. Stephen Curry made a return after injury and created the NBA history in Warriors’ 116-109 win on Wednesday night.

Stephen Curry surpassed Boston Celtics legend Ray Allen (24,505) on Wednesday to take the 27th spot on the league’s all-time scoring list. He earlier passed the 76ers legend Allen Iverson this season.

This is the not the first time when Curry surpassed Allen on an all-time list, as he did the same in 2021 to take possession of the top spot on the NBA’s all-time made-threes list against the New York Knicks.

Golden State Warriors were without Draymond Green and Jonathan Kuminga but they pulled off a comeback against Oklahoma City, led by Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. The MVP contender scored 52 points and made a history by becoming the third franchise player to record multiple 50-point games.

Stephen Curry scored 21 points and led the Warriors in a fine comeback in fourth quarter. He missed out the Warriors’ game against Utah Jazz due to knee injury. The two-time MVP missed his initial five shots and connected at the 10:46 mark of the second quarter.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander scored 21 points from team’s 34 in the first quarter and outscored Warriors, who had 20. Oklahoma City held a 58-48 lead at the halftime but they lost the momentum in the final period.

Stephen Curry hit a long 3-pointer with 1:52 left in the game and Warriors didn’t drop their lead. Gary Paton’s free throws stretched the lead to 9 points with less than a minute to go. Golden State have won two straight games and they are 3-1 in their six-game homestand.

The Warriors guard won the USA Basketball 5-on-5 Male Athlete of the Year Award on Wednesday. This is the first time when Curry won this award. He recently earned 11th NBA All-Star selection and will also be seen in WNBA vs. NBA matchup in San Francisco next month.

Stephen Curry, coach Steve Kerr and two members of the Warriors staff also received their championship rings from Grant Hill in a pregame ceremony for winning the Olympic gold medal last year in Paris.
