The Cleveland Cavaliers are now at 38-9, while the Heat are at 23-23.
On Wednesday night (29), the Cleveland Cavaliers (38-9) defeated the Miami Heat (23-23) on the road, 126-106. Despite being without Darius Garland, the Cavaliers had three players score at least 20 points to lead the entire game. This victory marked their second consecutive win, following a three-game losing streak, and they seem to be back in good form.
Donovan Mitchell stood out for the visitors. The shooting guard took on a point guard role during the game and was the centerpiece of the offense, finishing with 34 points and six assists. In addition, Cleveland got 22 points and 15 rebounds from Evan Mobley and 20 points with seven assists from Ty Jerome. With this result, the Cavaliers ended the Heat’s three-game winning streak in their head-to-head matchups.

On the other side, Terry Rozier came off the bench with 22 points, four rebounds, and four assists, shooting 8-13 from the field. Among the starters, Tyler Herro had a strong second half, finishing with 22 points, five rebounds, and six assists. Lastly, Bam Adebayo had a solid offensive performance with 21 points and 9 rebounds.
With their defense pressuring the shooters and occasionally doubling, the Cavaliers limited the Heat’s offense throughout the first half. On the offensive end, Cleveland struggled with their three-point shooting in the first quarter, but their play in the paint made up for it. The Cavs moved the ball well and frequently cut to the basket, leading to 24 points in the paint. They ended the first quarter with a 31-21 lead.
In the second quarter, Terry Rozier tried to bring Miami back into the game, but Cleveland quickly regained their rhythm from beyond the arc and pushed their lead to 59-41 by the end of the period.
After the break, the third quarter saw a series of runs. First, Haywood Highsmith caught fire and played a key role in bringing the Heat’s deficit down to single digits. However, shortly after, the Cavaliers ramped up their intensity again and extended their lead.
The sequence continued, with Miami heating up from the perimeter, but Mitchell responded each time. Finally, it was Tyler Herro’s turn to score eight consecutive points, bringing the score to 94-84 heading into the final period. Miami’s offense exploded for 43 points in the third quarter, taking advantage of Cleveland’s defensive lapse.
However, the fourth quarter was all Cavaliers. With a 32-22 run, Cleveland returned with a much stronger defensive effort, and Mitchell, Mobley, and Jerome took control of the offense. The trio was unstoppable, and they pushed the lead back up to around 20 points.
Next, Cleveland will face the Atlanta Hawks at home, who have already won two matchups against the Cavaliers this season, on Thursday. Miami will take on the San Antonio Spurs on Saturday, on the road.
