Another team has now entered the trade talks.
The last two months in trade season have been all about Jimmy Butler. The star forward is at loggerheads with Miami Heat management and is looking for a way out which has led to his recent suspensions.
Earlier reports claimed that Butler was keen on joining the Phoenix Suns. However, those talks have now hit a dead end solely because of Suns’ failure to find a team for Bradley Beal, who has so far shown no intention of waiving his no-trade clause.
Now, a new team has entered the conversation. According to NBA insider Marc Stein, the Milwaukee Bucks are seriously considering acquiring Butler. The deal could involve sending Khris Middleton and Bobby Portis to the Heat in exchange for the 35-year-old.
“I continue to hear whispered warnings: ‘Don’t forget about the Bucks.’ Milwaukee, as you’ve surely noted, can’t combine contracts in any offer for Butler until they first shed Pat Connaughton’s contract or include him in a larger trade scenario,” Stein wrote his Substack.

However, before making that move, the Bucks would need to clear some space. Reports say Pat Connaughton might be the first piece to go, as the Bucks need to make room on the roster. ESPN’s Brian Windhorst added that Middleton, Portis, and Connaughton—three key players from Milwaukee’s 2021 championship team—are all reportedly on the trade block.

If the Bucks can pull this off, they would add another superstar alongside Giannis Antetokounmpo, potentially making them the title challenger again in the Eastern Conference.
While the trade is still up in the air, with tensions high in Miami, it’s increasingly likely that Jimmy Butler will be playing in a new city after February 6.
