Myles Lewis-Skelly scored the first gool of Thomas Tuchel’s England era.
In England’s World Cup Qualifier game against Albania, Arsenal fullback Myles Lewis-Skelly opened his England account on his debut for the Three Lions. The 18-year-old also became the youngest player to score on his England senior debut.
Lewis-Skelly surpassed the previous record held by Marcus Rashford, who scored on his debut in 2016. He kicked off Thomas Tuchel’s England career with the first goal.
The German handed the youngster his senior debut as he returned the favour. The Three Lions won the contest 2-0 as Harry Kane sealed the deal late into the game.
Lewis-Skelly has started nine games for Arsenal in the Premier League. Appreciating the assist from Jude Bellingham, the youngest talked to ITV TV saying:
“I’m lost for words really,”
Appreciating the gesture of trust by manager Tuchel, the London boy also added:
”Definitely the pass, I just had to put it in the back of the net,” he said. “A great pass from Jude!”
“I’m just so grateful for the manager to put trust in me and my team-mates played with great trust in me. I’m so happy, I’m lost for words.”
Arsenal teammate Declan Rice had high praise for Lewis-Skelly as he called him fearless since a young age. Bellingham and Tuchel also congratulated the youngster on mic expressing their confidence in him on and off the pitch.

After shining for Arsenal in key moments this season, Lewis-Skelly has set himself in the history books. He scored his first and only senior goal in February against in a 5-1 victory over Manchester City.
England will face Latvia in their second game on March 25. Latvia also started their campaign with a win over Adorra. They will be hosted by the Three Lions at the Wembley Stadium.
