Victor Boniface transfer to AC Milan is edging closer, with the Nigerian striker’s agent expected in Italy to finalise the deal in the coming hours. According to Fabrizio Romano, the forward’s representatives will meet with Milan directors to put the finishing touches on an agreement that would see the 24-year-old arrive at San Siro from Bayer Leverkusen.

Talks accelerated on Wednesday after Milan cooled their interest in Manchester United’s Rasmus Højlund and instead tabled an offer for Boniface. The Rossoneri are pushing to close an initial loan deal with an option to buy, a formula that would give them flexibility given the striker’s injury history.
Sky Sport Italia reports that Milan, Leverkusen, and the player’s camp are working on the paperwork today with the aim of completing the transfer before the Serie A opener against Cremonese this weekend. Both clubs have already reached an agreement on the fee and structure, while Boniface has given the green light to the move.
Boniface arrives with a strong reputation, having delivered consistently across his career. After starting out at Bodo/Glimt and later impressing at Union Saint-Gilloise with 17 goals in 51 games, he rose to prominence at Leverkusen under Xabi Alonso. His physicality, pace, and finishing ability were key in their Bundesliga and domestic cup triumphs, with Boniface scoring 32 goals in 61 appearances. He also netted against Milan in the Champions League last October, showcasing the qualities that have now attracted the Rossoneri.
However, concerns remain over his durability. Boniface has suffered two cruciate ligament ruptures in the past and endured recurring muscle injuries, restricting him to just 12 appearances and three goals in 2025. His potential absence for the Africa Cup of Nations later this season is also a factor Milan must weigh carefully.

Despite the risks, the structure of the deal makes it an appealing option for Milan. Unlike targets such as Dusan Vlahovic or Højlund, who demand high fees or wages, Boniface offers top-level quality at reduced financial risk. For the Rossoneri, it could prove a shrewd gamble—one that balances ambition with prudence ahead of the new campaign.
