The 21-year-old has informed Leicester of his desire to join Palace, who view him as a potential long-term replacement for Eberechi Eze. While there is broad agreement on the fee, Palace are still finalising their position before committing fully to the transfer.
Relegated last season, Leicester remain under financial strain and have already seen Mads Hermansen depart for West Ham this summer. El Khannouss has been a rare bright spot during a difficult period for the Foxes, registering two assists in their opening-day win over Sheffield Wednesday and featuring in all three matches so far this campaign.
His departure, however, would bring in much-needed funds as the club reshapes its squad for a promotion push.
While Palace have also been monitoring Southampton’s Tyler Dibling, the teenager’s reported $58m price tag makes El Khannouss a far more realistic option.

Born in Belgium but representing Morocco internationally, El Khannouss has long been expected to leave Leicester following their drop into the Championship. A switch to Selhurst Park would not only end months of speculation but could also give him the platform of European football in the near future.
