A bad race for Lewis Hamilton in Spain
It all went down the drain for Lewis Hamilton. The seven-time champion was showing no pace improvement in his Ferrari throughout weekend. He did start the race in fourth but dropped sixth by the end of the race. Moreover, Hamilton had to give way to Charles Leclerc as soon as the race started.
Charles Leclerc took away position from his teammate and went on bring podium for Ferrari. Lewis Hamilton on the other hand spent the race struggling once again. Hamilton had literally no grip in his rear tyres. The commentators noted that Hamilton was sliding all over the track due to oversteer. Hamilton was unable to regain confidence in Spain. He was sceptical about the fact his team would get better in Barcelona. Unfortunately for Lewis his doubts were correct.

Since the start fo Formula 1 2025 season, Hamilton is the worst suffering driver after Alonso. A driver of his calibre is nowhere near the podium. He is regularly beat by his teammate and has no option but to concede. Here’s his reaction on the terrible race this weekend.
Formula 1 went racing for three weekends consecutively from Imola to Spain in the past month. In these three races, Hamilton was able to bring fourth in Imola, fourth in Monaco and sixth in Spain for Ferrari.
Hamilton is utterly dejected with his performance at the Maranello outfit. In Monaco he was driving alone in fourth lagging behind frontrunners. In Spain he lost to Sauber by the end of the race. Hamilton claims that he had not speed by the end of the race which led to the overtake from Nico Hulkenberg.

“Today was definitely not what I was hoping for. I felt good going into the race, after a pretty good Qualifying and the car performing better. But the balance felt off throughout the race and we lacked pace from the start. We don’t have an explanation for it, so we’ll have to go away and look into the data and any underlying issues. Congratulations to Charles, he did a great job and fully deserved the podium.”
Hamilton’s disappointment was visible during the post race interview. Lewis was in shambles after his race. Even during the race, the commentators were feeling pity for his performance and recent struggles. Former teammate and championship rival, Nico Rosberg, said it was hurting to see the greatest driver in such a condition.
I work as a Writer at The Playoffs specialising in Formula 1 and Motorsports. I got into online journalism a couple of years ago. I used to be an intern for a website managing their Formula 1 content and then I served an entire year as a contractual writer.
Read moreFor me, online journalism was not something I expected. I am a Mechanical Engineer aiming to join Formula 1. At the same time, I am a poet, writer and my university's Literary Club Lead. One day the dots connected together and I realised I could use my writing skills to convey my passion for Motorsports.
The biggest aspects I love about my role are- Scuderia Ferrari and Sebastian Vettel. When I am not fawning over them I like to convey my opinions to the public, in a manner which helps them gain a new point of view. I love helping people explore new ideas about Motorsports and obviously get recognised as a writer all over the world.
