Josh Allen's emotional MVP moment with a children's hospital surprise
Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen had a night full of emotions on Thursday at the NFL Honors show. Instead of prepping for Sunday’s Super Bowl, Allen was being celebrated for winning the league’s MVP award.
Allen secured the MVP trophy in a tight race, edging out last year’s winner, Lamar Jackson of the Baltimore Ravens. Jackson had outperformed Allen earlier in the All-Pro selections, making Allen’s victory a surprising moment. During his speech, Allen acknowledged his team, attributing his success to the entire Buffalo organization.

“We have such a great locker room in Buffalo, and it takes everybody from the equipment staff to the training room, to the strength staff, to Slick Rick in the mailroom, to the cafeteria upstairs,” Allen said. “It truly takes everybody to have team success, and I’m so fortunate to be a part of a great organization.”
Allen also thanked his parents and fiancée for their constant support, and the tears began to flow. But the most emotional moment came backstage.
Patients from Buffalo’s Oishei Children’s Hospital surprised Allen with a four-minute video congratulating him on the award. This wasn’t just any gesture—Allen is deeply connected to the hospital, where the Patricia Allen Pediatric Recovery Wing bears his late grandmother’s name. He frequently visits and hosts patients at games and practices.
Watching the heartfelt message broke Allen’s composure.
“That’s pretty cool. I don’t know what else to say. Thank you guys,” Allen said, visibly moved.
We’re all so proud of you.

He addressed the children in the video with a message of admiration.
“My job’s not that hard; I play football. What you guys have to go through and continue to fight through is much harder than I do. I look up to you just as much as you look up to me. And I really appreciate that. Love you guys.”
Allen’s final words summed up the moment perfectly: “Ah, I didn’t want to cry tonight.”
Fans across social media echoed that sentiment—none of us did either, Josh.

I write about sports because, well, it brings in the big bucks! I’m not some lifelong analyst or stats guru, truth being told, you’ve probably never heard of me!—I just know how to research, write, and make things sound good. That’s the job!
Got into sports media the same way most people do: by (fortunate) accident. Started with SEO writing, took on a few sports gigs, and now here we are! I cover games, trades, player drama—whatever needs words.
Favorite part? The chaos. One day it’s a blockbuster trade, the next it’s a goat running onto the field. Never boring.
Message to readers: If you want deep analysis, there are people for that. If you want sharp, no-BS writing that actually makes sense, stick around.
