Jack Wilshere is set to take his first full-time managerial role with Luton Town. According to reports, the former Arsenal and England midfielder will be officially unveiled as Luton Town’s new head coach on Monday. The 32-year-old has agreed terms following positive discussions with the club over the weekend and a press conference has been scheduled to announce his appointment.
Wilshere replaces Matt Bloomfield, who was dismissed earlier this month after nine months in charge. Bloomfield’s tenure ended with a 2-0 defeat to Stevenage, leaving Luton 11th in League One. Despite overseeing their relegation from the Championship last season, he had been retained for the new campaign but failed to deliver the expected turnaround in results.

For Wilshere, this marks a major step in his coaching journey. After retiring from playing in 2022 due to recurring injuries, he began his managerial career at Arsenal U18. He then joined Norwich City’s coaching setup last October. He briefly took interim charge of the Canaries at the end of last season. Wilshere earned a draw at Middlesbrough and a win over Cardiff in his two matches at the helm.

Notably, this will be Jack Wilshere’s first permanent senior management job. The club also considered other candidates, including Leyton Orient’s Richie Wellens and Watford assistant Charlie Daniels. But Wilshere emerged as the preferred choice due to his dynamic footballing philosophy and strong communication with players.
Luton Town earned promotion to the Premier League for the 2023–24 season. However, they have since endured back-to-back relegations. They lost five of their first 11 matches in the current League One campaign, which led to Matt Bloomfield’s sacking after just nine months in charge.

Once regarded as one of England’s most gifted midfielders, Wilshere’s playing career was hampered by injuries, but his passion for the game never waned. Now, he will look to channel that experience into management, leading a Luton side eager to climb back to Championship.
