Arsenal have reportedly tied down David Raya with an improved contract. The contract reflects his growing importance under boss Mikel Arteta. According to multiple reports, the Spanish goalkeeper agreed to revised terms earlier this summer.
However, it seems that the club has not officially announced the deal yet. The contract keeps him at the Emirates until 2028, with an option to extend beyond that period. The new agreement includes a salary increase from his previous one that he signed when he joined Arsenal permanently in 2024.

The new agreement has been already signed and it’s part of process to give players what they deserve.

As per that contract, Raya earned a salary of £100,000-per-week. His performances have more than justified the pay rise. He has won back-to-back Premier League Golden Glove awards. Notably, he shared the most recent one with Nottingham Forest’s Mats Sels.
Raya joined Arsenal from Brentford in 2023. He joined them initially on loan, before establishing himself as the undisputed No.1 ahead of Aaron Ramsdale. His seamless transition was aided by goalkeeping coach Inaki Cana, with whom he previously worked at Brentford.
The Spaniard’s calm presence and distribution have made him a central figure in Arteta’s setup. Especially as the Gunners continue to challenge on multiple fronts. Aged 30, Raya’s situation is seen as stable, with no urgency to extend the deal further.
Reportedly, Arsenal followed a similar approach with winger Leandro Trossard, who also received a pay rise without adding extra years to his contract. These ‘quiet renewals’ reflect the club’s strategy to reward performance without public fanfare, fostering stability within the squad.

Raya’s improved contract follows a series of renewals that have seen William Saliba, Gabriel Magalhaes, and Bukayo Saka commit their futures to the club. Arsenal are building continuity under Arteta, maintaining one of the Premier League’s most competitive squads.
Despite not confirming the new deal, sources suggest the agreement was completed before Arsenal’s Premier League opener against Manchester United in August. The timing aligns with league regulations. It allows salary adjustments without formal extensions only before the season begins.
