Will home support for Halys continue his inspirational run?
Day 6 at the French Open will continue with the men’s 10th seed, Holger Rune, taking the court against local talent Quentin Halys. The Danish player, Rune, advanced to the third round following a four-set win over Roberto Bautista Agut in the first round, followed by an easier straight sets victory over Emilio Nava in round 2.
Halys enters the third round on the back of a walkover from his first-round opponent, Tomas Machac, in a match where the Frenchman was leading 7-6, 4-1. He followed that up with a four-set win over Miomir Kecmanovic.

With a 17-11 record this year, Rune has had a mixed year, but his greatest moment came when he lifted the Barcelona Open title after defeating Casper Ruud in the quarters and Carlos Alcaraz in the final. Prior to that, he also made a strong run to the final at Indian Wells.
Rune has good numbers while serving, but his ratio of aces to double faults could use improvement. This year, the Danish player has hit 84 aces and 61 double faults. However, he has won 80% of his service games.
Halys has struggled quite a bit in 2025. With a 7-10 record, his best performance came at the Dubai Tennis Championships, where he reached the semi-final. Despite his losing record this year, Halys has served quite well. He has hit 212 aces with just 63 double faults. But his biggest struggle has been in return games, as he has won only 11% of those.

Rune and Halys have met only once before, with the Dane holding the lead 1-0 in their head-to-head. The pair met last year at Wimbledon in a classic match that went the distance.
| Year | Event | Round | Winner | Score |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2024 | Wimbledon | Round of 32 | Holger Rune | 1-6, 6-7(4), 6-4, 7-6(4), 6-1 |
Despite turning pro 8 years after the Frenchman, Rune has had a much better career to date. He holds 5 titles, while Halys has not yet won at the highest level. Rune has reached a career-high ranking of 4, while Halys’ career-best has been 50.
| Holger Rune | Category | Quentin Halys |
|---|---|---|
| 10 | Ranking | 52 |
| 156-96 | Career W-L | 42-72 |
| 17-11 | YTD W-L | 7-10 |
| 5 | Career Titles | 0 |
| 0 | Grand Slams | 0 |
| 1 | YTD Titles | 0 |
Ideally, Rune is the superior player, and his form this year reflects the gap in talent the two players possess. Halys has already reached his best performance at the French Open, but this is where his road will most likely come to an end.
Prediction: Rune in four sets
Holger Rune is the favorite heading into this match, which is also what the betting odds reflect.
Holger Rune Win: 1/6
Quentin Halys Win: 17/4

nfl I am a content writer for the NFL team, and joined The Playoffs after working with Sportskeeda and NFL Analysis as an NFL writer. After starting my professional career as a French-to-English translator, working as a content writer is a new adventure for me. I started out in the sports media field for two main reasons: my love for sports in general, especially the NFL, NBA, and Tennis, as well as my passion for writing. The best part of this job is that I get to write a variety of pieces with the freedom to explore content from various angles. It also enables me to stay up to date with the sporting world, which otherwise can be difficult to do in the day-to-day grind. In a world full of chaos, sports unite and entertain like nothing else!
