Read ahead to know what Fred Vasseur, Ferrari Team Principal, had to say about Lewis Hamilton.
Lewis Hamilton has not had a great start to his championship season at Ferrari. The star driver of the F1 paddock has driven for two frontrunner teams before- McLaren and Mercedes. Lewis Hamilton’s days at Ferrari are marked by constant disappointment and low race pace compared to his competitors. Hamilton has been falling behind Charles Leclerc when it comes to race results.
Even though, in the background the seven-time world champion has been working hard for Ferrari. In the previous race weekend, Hamilton provided crucial support to Charles Leclerc’s podium drive by holding off Lando Norris just enough to let Leclerc score Ferrari’s first podium in 2025.

In addition to that, Lewis Hamilton was also in the spotlight during the Chinese Grand Prix. He won the sprint race and sprint pole at the Chinese Grand Prix claiming his first win for Ferrari. Since then, his car’s performance has only went downhill. Hamilton is facing an alarming situation on the field currently. He is being outclassed by many drivers with less experience than him.
Lewis Hamilton has only finished in the top-5 once in the first five races of the 2025 season. His qualifying performance is equally poor. The driver is set start from top-5 on the grid.
Its not the first time Ferrari is working with a multiple world champion title winner. They have previously availed the services of Sebastian Vettel, Fernando Alonso, Michael Schumacher, etc. The Maranello team is known for backing up their drivers aggressively. Fred Vasseur’s arrival has sparked a new era for Ferrari. The team was highly competitive in the 2024 championship season.

So when Hamilton was dejected after his P7 finish at Jeddah, the Prancing Horses where quick to cover for him. On Sunday evening, Fred Vassuer claimed-
“I will be 2000% behind him and I will give him support here, and we will start from tomorrow morning to try to find solutions and reasons and to work on it early in the morning.”
Ferrari has stated that their car has the potential as seen during the Sprint in China. However, Hamilton is still adjusting to the car. Lewis Hamilton has not found his perfect balance yet. The world champion is also facing issues with degradation and tyre wear. It seems like the team is collectively trying to solve the problems this season. Fred Vasseur is confident in Hamilton’s capabilities. He doesn’t think that the Briton needs to undergo a transition phase in order to reclaim his glory days.
Not only Ferrari, but Hamilton’s former teammate, George Russell and former rival, Sebastian Vettel have also put forward their confidence in the seven-time champion.
nhl I work as a Writer at The Playoffs specialising in NHL, Formula 1 and Motorsports. I got into online journalism a couple of years ago. I used to be an intern for a website managing their Formula 1 content and then I served an entire year as a contractual writer.
Read moreFor me, online journalism was not something I expected. I am a Mechanical Engineer aiming to join Formula 1. At the same time, I am a poet, writer and my university’s Literary Club Lead. One day the dots connected together and I realised I could use my writing skills to convey my passion for Motorsports.
The biggest aspects I love about my role are- Scuderia Ferrari and Sebastian Vettel. When I am not fawning over them I like to convey my opinions to the public, in a manner which helps them gain a new point of view. I love helping people explore new ideas about Motorsports and obviously get recognised as a writer all over the world.
Message to Readers: I promise you one day you’ll see me managing operations on track with a Formula 1 team ; )
