Juan Pablo Montoya is a former Formula 1 driver and successful driver in open-wheel racing. As a seven-race winning driver, Montoya has more than enough experience needed to distinguish the problems for the underperforming teams of the grid. In his career, he drove for Williams and McLaren. Both teams suffered a massive downfall in recent years in F1. On one hand, McLaren has risen to the top yet again. Williams on the other hand, initially struggled but now is a top-contender of the midfield.

Montoya could not help but comment about the dark future that awaits one of the best teams of the grid currently. He has raised some important questions about the rumors prevalent on the paddock. Montoya has also suggested a scary outcome for the team if they do not manage to get rid of their issues in 2025 itself.

Juan Pablo Montoya Outlines Negatives Outcomes for Red Bull Racing

The team Pablo Montoya and many other F1 experts have been talking about is none other than- Red Bull Racing. The Milton Keynes based outfit has found themselves in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons in 2025. Once a dominant force of victory and nicknamed as “the rocketship”, the Red Bull Racing RB21 is now a living catastrophe of mechanical parts.

Kudos to Max Verstappen, who manages to stay competitive, challenging for wins and podiums even though he does not have the machinery to support him. Montoya has highlighted this very aspect for the team claiming that 2026 might be the deal-breaker for their team. In a daring move, he further commented that-

“Red Bull next year could be running where Williams is running.”

His opinions are based on the fact that Red Bull Racing’s new partnership with Ford to provide power units is a hit or miss. Montoya is skeptical about the performance of the 2026 power units. He also questioned Max Verstappen’s contract decisions. Paddock rumors point to Mercedes. But Montoya thinks that Toto Wolff has a more than satisfactory driver pairing for himself this season.

“Would Toto get rid of Antonelli to accommodate Max? Or would you get rid of George? I don’t know how clear the option is there. Basically, if Max went to Mercedes, whoever left Mercedes would go to Red Bull.”

Juan Pablo Montoya’s questions and predictions are enough to raise concerns of Red Bull Racing and Max Verstappen fans. Max Verstappen might have praised his championship rival’s consistency, but only time will tell if Verstappen will have any chance of going up against him.
