Read ahead to know what Max Verstappen thinks about this race winning driver!
Max Verstappen has aptly earned the spotlight on the Formula 1 grid in recent years. Ever since his debut as the youngest driver ever to race in F1, Verstappen has not looked back in his career at all. Max Verstappen’s first title in 2021 set a chain reaction for the upcoming years in F1. The Dutch Lion would go on to rewrite F1’s history and statistics as he massacred the competition left and right.
Max Verstappen has not fared well in the past few races. The 2024 season highlighted his team’s flaws which were brutally exploited in 2025. Verstappen may be third in the championship currently, but the entire paddock knows that his team is nowhere near to being competitive.

The previous weekend was yet another disaster for the four-time champion. He was starting from pole position on a track, where Red Bull never lost. Yet, the strategy employed by the team could only suffice for a second-place finish. However, the current situation has not curtailed Verstappen from praising one of the better drivers on the grid.

The Saudi Arabian Grand Prix was not exactly perfect for Verstappen and Piastri’s on track relationship. Going into turn-1, the duo clashed and almost collided. Verstappen had to go off the track to keep his lead against the Aussie. He earned himself a 5s penalty from the FIA. Piastri ended up winning the race after Max Verstappen and Red Bull could not compensate for his penalty.
In spite of all that, Max Verstappen could not stop himself from admiring the rising talent on the grid. Oscar Piastri achieved a marvellous record after his latest victory. He is now the first Australian to lead the championship in 15 years. Piastri’s mentor was the last Aussie to lead F1 drivers in the championship.
Verstappen gives Piastri huge amounts of praise: ‘Has everything to fight for a championship’:

In his interview with Formula 1, Max Verstappen said-
“I think I’ve said it before. People forget a little bit – last year was his second year. Now he’s in his third year, and he’s very solid. He’s very calm in his approach, and I like that. It shows on track. He delivers when he has to, barely makes mistakes – and that’s what you need when you want to fight for a championship.”
Additionally, Max Verstappen was quick to point out Mark Webber’s role in Oscar Piastri’s career. He qouted his father’s journey as an example to explain how Webber might have influenced Piastri. The 2025 title fight has taken a turn for good and it will be a pleasure to watch three young drivers battle it out on track to prove who’s the best in 2025.
nhl I work as a Writer at The Playoffs specialising in NHL, Formula 1 and Motorsports. I got into online journalism a couple of years ago. I used to be an intern for a website managing their Formula 1 content and then I served an entire year as a contractual writer.
Read moreFor me, online journalism was not something I expected. I am a Mechanical Engineer aiming to join Formula 1. At the same time, I am a poet, writer and my university’s Literary Club Lead. One day the dots connected together and I realised I could use my writing skills to convey my passion for Motorsports.
The biggest aspects I love about my role are- Scuderia Ferrari and Sebastian Vettel. When I am not fawning over them I like to convey my opinions to the public, in a manner which helps them gain a new point of view. I love helping people explore new ideas about Motorsports and obviously get recognised as a writer all over the world.
Message to Readers: I promise you one day you’ll see me managing operations on track with a Formula 1 team ; )
