A deflected cross from Jhon Arias caused confusion in Inter’s box. This allowed Cano to head home unmarked from close range. The Argentine forward’s header even nutmegged goalkeeper Yann Sommer. This certainly became a moment that would symbolize Inter’s defensive disarray.
Nerazzurri struggled to respond despite dominating possession for large parts of the first half. Fluminense’s aggressive start and organized counter-press left the Italians flat-footed. Arias, instrumental throughout, continued to threaten on the break while Inter forwards labored to break down a compact and disciplined Brazilian backline.

In stoppage time, substitute Hercules found space on the left. He took a composed touch and fired across Sommer to double the lead. Finally, sending the Flu fans into raptures. The goal capped a disciplined and spirited performance that frustrated Inter.
