Veronika Kudermetova has never gone beyond the second round at Wimbledon
It’s day 2 of Wimbledon 2025 second round matches, and in this match, we have the number 10 seed Emma Navarro taking on Veronika Kudermetova for a place in round 3. This will be the pair’s second meeting, and the winner of the match goes on to play either Barbora Krejcikova or Caroline Dolehide in the next round.
Following her shock round one exit at Roland Garros, Navarro started her grass court season early and entered three tournaments prior to Wimbledon. However, she didn’t have the best of results, winning just 4 matches while losing 3.
The American, however, had no difficulty in dispatching Petra Kvitova comfortably in straight sets. Navarro served decently, making 73% of her first serves while also winning 6 out of 7 net points. It was her return game that stood out as she broke her opponent 5 times from just 8 chances.
Kudermetova entered the Libema Open and Bad Homburg Open after Roland Garros, but she too did not progress very far in either tournament. Overall, the Russian tennis player has been struggling this season with injuries.
However, she did play a good opening round match at Wimbledon, getting past Lin Zhu in just over an hour and thirteen minutes. She won 77% of the points on her first serve, hit 7 aces, and was a perfect 8 of 8 at the net and 3 of 3 on break point conversions, while she saved all 5 break points that she faced.
Navarro keeps it rolling 👊

Emma Navarro and Veronika Kudermetova have faced each other only once prior to their match today. That match came 4 years ago at the Charleston Open when Navarro was a rising player, while Kudermetova was already established on tour. The Russian holds a 1-0 lead in their head-to-head battle.

Neither of the two players has had a strong grass tournament in the build-up to Wimbledon. But Kudermetova hasn’t had the best of seasons so far. Moreover, the Russian has never managed to go past the second round at Wimbledon, while Navarro was a quarterfinalist just last year.
The 10th should be able to counter the powerful hitting of her opponent, and she is also coming off an impressive win over Kvitova. If Kudermetova doesn’t play up to standards, Navarro should walk away with the win.
