Maple Leafs' Calle Jarnkrok Undergoes Groin and Sports Hernia Surgery, Out Indefinitely

Calle Jarnkrok underwent surgery on Monday for a groin and sports hernia and will be sidelined indefinitely for the Toronto Maple Leafs.

The forward, aged 33, has not played this season and went to New York last week to see a specialist when his first rehab efforts did not work. Berube expressed optimism that Jarnkrok may potentially return to play at a later point in the season.

“Tough on Jarnkrok right from camp, obviously, He’s got to get it fixed and he will be out a while. : Maple Leafs coach Craig Berube said

“It’s too bad because he’s a player that we liked and can help us but really hasn’t had that opportunity to do that.”

“Yeah, for sure, I just think it’s one of those types of things, see how he heals up and how everything goes, so that’s where that’s at.” :Berube said.

Jarnkrok’s participation in training camp was hindered by the injury, causing him to miss multiple practices. He failed to score in two preseason matches.

In his second season with Toronto, Jarnkrok tallied 21 points (10 goals, 11 assists) and boasted a plus-16 rating in 52 games. On July 15, 2022, he agreed to a four-year deal with the Maple Leafs worth an average of $2.1 million per year.

In 699 regular-season games, he has scored 136 goals and made 165 assists for a total of 301 points while playing for the Nashville Predators, Seattle Kraken, Calgary Flames, and the Maple Leafs. He also has 22 points from 93 Stanley Cup Playoff games, with five goals and 17 assists.

Whether it’s breaking down a game, analyzing a big trade, or capturing the emotions on the ice, I bring the NHL to life through words. So what’s the best part you ask? Watching the action unfold and turning it into something fans can connect with. To my readers: Hockey is more than just a game—it’s the highs, the heartbreaks, and the moments that make us jump off our seats. So, keep cheering, keep debating, and never stop loving the madness of the sport!
