Shelton brings firepower and form into his Wimbledon clash with Challenger-season standout Fucsovics.
Tenth seed Ben Shelton is set to face lucky loser Marton Fucsovics in the third round of Wimbledon 2025. Shelton has looked composed and dominant so far, dispatching qualifiers Alex Bolt and Rinky Hijikata in straight sets without much fuss.
Fucsovics, meanwhile, has taken the long road, grinding through two physically demanding five-set battles against Aleksandar Kovacevic and Gael Monfils, both featuring high-pressure tiebreaks. He’ll now be tested by Shelton’s firepower and fresher legs.
Yesterday, Ben Shelton's match with Rinky Hijikata was suspended at 9:29 PM local time with him one game away from winning.

Shelton’s 2025 campaign has been one of steady progress, despite a rocky start in Auckland. The American broke through with a semifinal run at the Australian Open, followed by deep runs in Stuttgart, Munich, and Indian Wells. He fell to Alexander Zverev in both the Stuttgart semis and Munich final, but his powerful serving and aggressive play have been key.
So far, Shelton has racked up 295 aces, won 74% of his first-serve points, 26% on first-serve returns, and converted 43% of 163 break-point chances.

Fucsovics, on the other hand, has found more consistency on the Challenger circuit than the ATP main draw. He kicked off the year with a quarterfinal in Noumea, then won the Manama Challenger title with a gritty three-set win over Andrea Vavassori. He followed that with another quarterfinal in Murcia.
On the main tour, his only standout results came in Bucharest (semifinals) and Stuttgart (quarterfinals), though he couldn’t push past Sebastian Baez and Taylor Fritz in those events. Elsewhere, he’s often exited early. Stat-wise, he has 39 aces, 73% of first-serve points won, 32% on return, and 37% break-point conversion from 106 opportunities.

With strong performances at high-level events and a big-serving game suited for grass, Ben Shelton enters as the favorite. Fucsovics has shown flashes of form on the Challenger circuit but has struggled for consistency on the main tour.
