Belgian Grand Prix Sprint 2025: Max Verstappen Grabs Victory at Spa Leading the McLarens in the Sprint!

Red Bull Racing came to Spa Francorchamps with a lot of controversies behind them. The new team principal Laurent Mekies had to fill the void after the absence of Christian Horner. However, he left all the questions in the dust as Verstappen stormed his way to victory at the Belgian Grand Prix Sprint race.

The Sprint was an important factor in deciding the performance of the teams in the upcoming qualifying session and the main race of Sunday. The teams have been running a low downforce setup which is rewarding to them in the high speed corners of the Spa Francorchamps circuit. the starting grid for the sprint today was compromised of midfield cars making a sudden comeback in raw pace. The Spa Francorchamps circuit also witnessed a masterclass with Max Verstappen. The Dutchman stole the victory from the McLarens roaring behind him.

Belgian Grand Prix Sprint Results: Top-8 Finishers from Today’s session

The points finishers from today’s session in Spa Francorchamps-

  2. Oscar Piastri- McLaren
  3. Lando Norris- McLaren
  4. Charles Leclerc- Ferrari
  5. Esteban Ocon- Haas
  6. Carlos Sainz- Williams F1
  7. Oliver Bearman- Haas
  8. Isack Hadjar- Racing Bulls

Oscar Piastri may have claimed pole position for today’s session. However, by lap 2 Max Verstappen already found himself ahead of the Aussie coming out of the Les Combes chicane. The commentators went wild as Verstappen inched closer to the Papaya driver driving onto the Kemmel Straight. In total, it was a successful session for the Bulls. Helmut Marko and Laurent Mekies were seen congratulating each other after their first victory working together in the Red Bull Racing garage.

The entire session was merely for 15 laps. There was on significant changes in the finishing order compared to the starting grid. Pierre Gasly was unlucky enough to miss out on some good points after claiming a good position in qualifying yesterday. His Alpine had to drop out of the race due to water leakage.

As expected of the sprint race, there was no significant racing action among the back markers and midfielders. All eyes are now focused on the qualifying session later today which will decide the fate of the drivers for tomorrow’s Belgian Grand Prix.

The teams are going to spend a lot of time trying to perfect their setup to take advantage of the speed at this track.
