Jack Della Maddalena has proved his point and taken the UFC Welterweight title from Belal Muhammad. Their fight was one of the main events of the UFC 315 event on May 10, 2025. 

Jack Della Maddalena’s reign as the UFC Welterweight title starts now. However, he is the second Australian to win a title in the main fight of UFC Numbered main event. Alexander Volkanovksi and Jack Della Maddelena Are the Two Australians To Win the Titles Back To Back In 2025

Alexander Volkanovski is the first Australian to win a title at an UFC numbered event in 2025. He notably, became the UFC Featherweight Champion for the second time in his UFC career by beating Diego Lopes at UFC 314. Volk dominated his opponent throughout the first three rounds and then overcame the fourth round to win the fight in Round 5 as per the UFC official site (UFC News on X).

Jack Della Maddalena followed suit in the steps of his fellow countryman at UFC 315. He faced off against Belal Muhammad for the UFC Welterweight Championship. He got the better of his opponent through early successes. Jack Della Maddalena again put the pressure on the offensive in Round 5 and busted his opponent with a knee. Then, he finished off Belal Muhammad at the end of Round 5. The Aussie added the fight through unanimous decision and added one more win in his undefeated UFC streak (via UFC News on X). 

Notably, Volk was watching the fight and went on full cheering mode for his countryman Jack Della Maddalena as the fight ended (via his official Instagram account). Alexander Volkanovksi and Jack Della Maddalena have become two Australian champions in back-to back main events in the UFC numbered events. 

How Many Australian Champions Are There in the UFC?

Jack Della Maddalena has also become the newest Australian Champion in the UFC after UFC 315. However, he is the third Australian Champion in the UFC. Robert Whittaker was the very first UFC Champion by winning the interim Middleweight title. He also held the UFC Middleweight title. Whittaker was followed by Alexander Volkanovski  who is presently serving as a two-time UFC Featherweight Champion. Now, Jack Della Maddalena joins them as the UFC Welterweight Champion currently. 

Australia have already produced three champions in the UFC. Fans just need to wait and watch who is the next Aussie, men or women, to become the champion in the UFC.
