The Belarusian tied with Petra Kvitova (2011, 2015, 2018) for the most Madrid titles.
World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka defeated Coco Gauff in straight sets to claim the 2025 Madrid Open, her third title of the season. The Belarusian won 17 points in a row early in the matchup and saved a set point in the second set to beat Gauff 6-3, 7-6 (3) in the final. With this title, she joins Tennis legend Serena Williams for a historic landmark.
Sabalenka’s straight-sets victory over Coco Gauff led her to third title in 2025 as she previously won in Miami and Brisbane. The world No. 1 reached the final in six of the eight tournaments she has played so far this year.

Aryna Sabalenka tied with two big records of Serena Williams with a victory in the Madrid Open final. She became only the second player in the Open Era to win her first three clay-court titles at a Grand Slam, Tier I, or WTA-1000 event. It was previously done by the one and only Serena Williams.
With this triumph, Sabalenka joined Serena Williams to become only the second player to win three titles at two different WTA-1000 events. The former No. 1 player achieved this feat in 2009 after winning WTA-1000 events at both Madrid and Wuhan.
Aryna Sabalenka becomes the first woman to win both Miami and Madrid in the same season since 2013.

The current world No. 1 is the second player after Serena Williams to win both the Miami and Madrid titles in the same season. Sabalenka won the Miami Open after beating Jessica Pegula in the final. Serena won both WTP-1000 events in the same season in 2013. Williams faced Maria Sharapova in the Madrid Open final, where the winner could take the number 1 ranking.
Aryna Sabalenka won her third title at the Madrid Open, as she previously won in 2023 by beating Iga Swiatek in the final. Her maiden Madrid Open title came in 2021 after overcoming Ashleigh Barty in three sets.
The 26-year-old surpassed Serena Williams (2) and Simona Halep (2) to become the joint-most successful player in the Spanish Capital with three titles. Williams and Halep remain the only players to defend their title at the Madrid Open. Sabalenka had a chance to become the third player to defend her title, but she lost to Swiatek in the 2024 final.
The Belarusian tied with Petra Kvitova (2011, 2015, 2018) for the most Madrid titles. Meanwhile, she has a record of playing four finals in the Spanish Capital and it was her third consecutive Madrid Open final.
