Set to be crowned World No. 5 on Monday, Jack Draper faces veteran clay courter Casper Ruud in the final of the Mutua Madrid Open 2025 on Sunday. The two players came through tricky draws to reach the summit clash, and will battle it out to win their first Madrid Open championship.

Jack Draper defeated Tallon Griekspoor, Matteo Berrettini, Tommy Paul, Matteo Arnaldi and Lorenzo Musetti en route to the final. Draper is having an incredible 2025 season – the British sensation won his first Masters title at Indian Wells. He is contesting his maiden clay court 1000 final on Sunday. The 2024 US Open semifinalist will head to Roland Garros with some much-needed confidence.

Casper Ruud is a two-time Roland Garros runner-up, and justified his clay court hype at the Madrid Open this year. The Norwegian beat Arthur Rinderknech, Sebastian Korda, Taylor Fritz, Daniil Medvedev and Francisco Cerundolo to enter the final. This will be Ruud’s second final in 2025 – he lost to Denis Shapovalov in the curtain-closer of the Dallas Open in the USA.

Jack Draper will rely on his strong forehand to push Casper Ruud into defensive positions. However, it was the 23-year-old’s backhand that took Lorenzo Musetti by surprise in the semifinals. The Italian targeted the backhand of Draper, but found no luck. Ruud will have to serve perfectly in order to trouble the Brit. The 26-year-old is stronger defensively and possibly in terms of variety.
