The 2025 Madrid Masters, also known as the Madrid Open, is a joint ATP-WTA event held at the Caja Magica in Madrid, Spain. Originally established in 2002, the 23rd iteration of the ATP Masters 1000 event will take place from April 23 to May 4. The WTA 1000 event kicks off a day earlier on April 22, with the singles final set for May 3 and the doubles final on May 4.

In 2023, the Madrid Masters expanded to a two-week format featuring 96 singles players and 32 doubles teams in both ATP and WTA draws. The clay-court warm-up for Roland Garros has traditionally been played on red clay. However, in 2012, organizers controversially used blue clay to enhance visibility on TV. The experiment was short-lived, as players found the surface too slippery, prompting a return to red clay in 2013.

Andrey Rublev returns as the defending ATP singles champion, with Sebastian Korda and Jordan Thompson holding the doubles title. On the WTA side, Iga Swiatek is the reigning singles champion, while the Spanish duo Cristina Bucșa and Sara Sorribes Tormo have the doubles title.

What is the prize money for the ATP & WTA Madrid Masters 2025?

As a joint ATP-WTA 1000 event, the 2025 Madrid Masters singles champions in each draw will earn €985,030 and 1,000 ranking points, while the finalists will receive €523,870 and 650 points. In doubles, the winning teams take home €400,560 and 1,000 points, with the runners-up earning €212,060 and 600 points.
