Here's what you need to know about the Imola GP Track
Formula 1 will be ready to go racing again this weekend. This time, the cars will hit the tarmac of Emilia Romagna’s racing circuit. The famed Imola GP is Italy’s first race of the 2025 Formula 1 season. Imola was not a part of Formula 1 for many years since 2007. It found itself back on the calendar in 2020. The Emilia Romagna GP is the home race for both- Ferrari and Racing Bulls.
The Autodromo Internazionale Enzo e Dino Ferrari often nicknamed as Imola if going to host the race at Emilia Romagna. It is a fast and awe inducing track which known for its exciting corners. Drivers like the Imola GP Circuit for its raw speed and challenging corners. The track has also been a witness to some of the worst crashes in the history of Formula 1.

The circuit is named after the founder of Ferrari, Enzo Ferrari and his son, Alfredo Dino Ferrari. The name of Imola- Autodromo Internazionale Enzo e Dino Ferrari means, Enzo and Dino Ferrari International Circuit in Italian. Imola has been hosting Formula 1 races since 1980. The first race at Imola was the Italian Grand Prix. The race acted as a substitute for Monza. A first lap pile-up incident at Monza in 1978 made Formula 1 officials choose Imola Circuit.
The Imola GP Circuit hosted races in Formula 1 from 1981 to 2006. It was known as the San Marino Grand Prix. The track returned to calendar as the Emilia Romagna GP in 2020 and has been a regular circuit in Formula 1 since then. There are talks about removing the Imola GP from the Formula 1 calendar from 2026 recently.
The Imola GP Circuit was also the cause for the death of two Formula 1 drivers during the 1994 San Marino GP. Ayrton Senna and Roland Ratzenberger lost their lives during a race weekend at the track.
In 2025, the Imola Circuit will host racing action for 63 laps during the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix 2025 in Formula 1. The race is going to cover a total distance of 309.049 km. Below are the circuit statistics-

The Imola GP Circuit is known for its famous corners- Tamburello, Variante Bassa, Acque Mineralli, Piratella, etc. Fans should expect exciting racing paired with high-speed crashes as drivers zoom past the treacherous corners of Imola.
