Kimi Antonelli was Flabbergasted at fellow Kimi’s Lack of Reaction in Monza 2018!

Kimi Antonelli shares his thoughts about his first encounter with the "Iceman" Kimi.

Kimi Antonelli is the rising talent at Mercedes F1 racing. The young Italian has been the pride and joy of Mercedes in the past few races. He has established his importance in the team from the very first race of the season. Antonelli is among the few rookies who have been successful this season. The drivers like Liam Lawson, Jack Doohan, Isack Hadjar and Gabriel Bortoleto have all gone through tough patches in their first few races.

It was Antonelli who surprised the entire paddock with his debut performance. He was the youngest driver on the grid at the 2025 Australian GP. But not only did he survive the rain swept race in Melbourne, he also ended up securing a fourth place finish.

Antonelli has continued impressing the F1 community with his talents this year. He managed to claim a DOTD award at the Chinese Grand Prix. His best day was came at Suzuka on April 6. Kimi Antonelli secured the records of becoming F1’s youngest race leader and fastest lap awardee driver. He may not recived extra points for his blistering fast lap but he did receive a lot of praise from everyone.

Kimi Antonelli Would Like to Talk to The “Iceman” Kimi Raikkonen

Kimi Raikonnen still enjoys a cult following in Formula 1. He is the last world champion to come out of the Ferrari camp in F1 racing. Raikkonen won his first and only championship for Scuderia Ferrari in 2007. He rejoined Ferrari after his short but successful at Lotus F1 following his retirement from F1.

Kimi Raikkonen spent his last year at Ferrari in 2018. It was during this time that 2025 driver, Kimi Antonelli got to meet the “Iceman”. Young Kimi was more than excited to meet the champion Kimi. However, what awaited him was completely unexpected. In Antonelli’s own words–

“He was doing the Monza GP. The first time I met him I understood why they call him the Iceman, to be honest, because I remember going to him super excited and he had completely no reaction.”

Even though, Antonelli had a less than memorable interaction in his first meeting with Kimi, he still has a lot of respect for the former F1 driver. Kimi Antonelli hopes to meet him again and learn from him. He wants to spent more time with Kimi Raikkonen, who is a “cool man” according to Antonelli. Kimi Antonelli has also clarified that he is not named after the Finnish F1 legend.
