What should you keep in mind about the Bahrain International Circuit this weekend? Read ahead to know more.

Bahrain International Circuit has the reputation of scorching heat and racing under the night lights in F1. The track is the “desert jewel” of F1. Bahrain International Circuit hosts the annual Bahrain Grand Prix in F1.

The 2025 Bahrain GP will take place from April 11-13 at the track. The circuit is also a part of F1 testing before the official start of the F1 season.

Bahrain is an important track which features a very difficult strategy. The drivers have to manage the boiling inside their cockpit, with the stress of their tyres getting all degraded and overheated. Bahrain is just like Suzuka, but unlike Japan, rain won’t be helping out drivers in 2025. The circuit has seen it all.

Bahrain has been a witness to amazing battles for track position, sensation victories and crashes. The most recent crash at Bahrain was the incident involving Romain Grosjean and his Haas VF20 in 2025.

Let’s have a look at the history and statistics about the Bahrain International Circuit.

Bahrain International Circuit History

Bahrain Circuit is located in Sakhir, Bahrain. The track broke ground in 2002 and was a part of the F1 calendar in 2004 for the first time. The 2004 edition of the Bahrain GP marked the first race that Formula 1 hosted in the Middle-east.

Since then, the track has been a regular race in the F1 calendar. Bahrain has also been the host to the start of the F1 season many times. It was the first race of the 2022 F1 season.

Max Verstappen is the defending race winner at Bahrain. He completed his 5th career grand slam at Bahrain in 2024. The Bahraini Uprising of 2011 caused the cancellation of the 2011 Bahrain GP. Lewis Hamilton has won the most races in Bahrain. He has 5 victories in the event.

Sebastian Vettel is the second-best driver at the circuit with 4 wins in his F1 career at the Bahrain International Circuit.

The Free Practice sessions have given us a clear idea of what to expect in 2025 at Bahrain. McLaren have reestablished themselves as the fastest cars of the weekend. On the other hand, the Red Bulls are clearly not able to adjust to the track yet. Aston Martin and Fernando Alonso could not use the practice session to their advantage after Alonso suffered a crucial mechanical failure in his steering column.

Lewis Hamilton did not display any exceptional pace after his third-place finish in the Free Practice 1. The Ferraris are utilising a new floor design this weekend to improve their standings and chances of competing in the championship.

The Qualifying session of the Bahrain GP will be underway on Saturday. Follow The Playoffs for the latest F1 updates.
