Minnesota adds forward depth by acquiring Tyler Madden from Los Angeles
The Minnesota Wild and Los Angeles Kings have made a small trade involving two AHL regulars. Forward Tyler Madden is heading to Minnesota, while defenseman Joseph Cecconi joins the Kings in return.
Madden, originally a Vancouver Canucks draft pick in 2018, made a name for himself at Northeastern University, where he racked up 65 points in 63 games. His rights were traded to Los Angeles in 2020 as part of the deal that sent Tyler Toffoli to Vancouver.

Since turning pro in the AHL during the 2020-21 season, Madden has consistently put up around 30 points per season. This year, he has 25 points in 47 games, and a fresh start in Minnesota could give him the boost he needs to hit a career-high mark.
On the other side, the Kings get a big-bodied, physical defenseman in Cecconi. With Nashville claiming Andreas Englund off waivers, Los Angeles needed blue-line depth, and Cecconi fits the role. He has spent time with multiple AHL teams, playing a hard-nosed style with minimal offensive production. This season, he has 14 points and 41 penalty minutes in 51 games. If injuries pile up for the Kings, his physical presence could even earn him his first NHL appearance.
