Blachowicz turned pro in 2007 and spent years dominating the European MMA scene, where he won and defended the light heavyweight title for multiple times. When he came to UFC in 2014, he faced a rocky start to his career going 2-4 in his first six fights. Despite the losses, Jan remained undettered and soon turned his career around with quite a run. This includes winning over fighters such as Dominic Reyes, Luke Rockhold, and Israel Adesanya. His crowing moment came in September of 2020 where he knocked out Reyes to claim the vacant light heavyweight title at UFC 253, and became the first Polish Male to win a UFC championship.
After beating Izzy for his title defense fight, Blachowicz lost his title against Glover Teixeira at UFC 267, on October of 2021. Since then, the Polish fighter is struggling to find a rhythm like he did earlier. He won against Rakic, drew the fight against Ankalaev, and lost against Alex Pereira. The 42 year old is still going strong and remains a top contender in his division.
Jan Blachowicz will take on Carlos Ulberg at UFC Fight Night 255, on March 22nd, 2025, at O2 Arena in London, England. There are reports stating that the winner of the fight may potentially face the current light heavyweight champ in Magomed Ankalaev. However, it has not been confirmed yet. Blachowicz ranks third and Ulberg is the 6th ranked fighter within the same division. Ulberg will be a dangerous opponent for the former Polish champ as he is coming in with a 12-1-0 record.

Blachowicz’s last fight was against Alex Pereira, and even though the fight was extremely close, Poatan ended up winning the fight via split decision. Blachowicz believes that if he is to fight Poatan again, he can win the fight.
Jan Blachowicz has an overall MMA record of 29-10-1 in his UFC career. His only draw came up against Magomed Ankalaev at UFC 282. Judge Mike Bell gave Blachowicz the benefit of the doubt with 48-47, Jugde Derek Cleary had given Ankalaev the upper hand with 48-46, but the third judge, Sal D’Amato, gave 47-47 which resulted in a draw.

After an injury to Jiri Prochazka, UFC 282 was supposed to determine the light heavyweight champion but due to the tie, nobody ended up winning the title.

mma I cover the National Football League and things cannot get better than that. I always dreamed to play football or basketball professionally since I’m built like a Running Back. But now that I can’t, since I’m technically in the “Unc” age, I thought why not pick a career in sports industry? So here I am, doing what I love, and hoping that the Commanders win the Super Bowl. I give love to players when it’s due, but can be critical about their performances at the same time. Enough about me, now let my articles do all the talking.
