Who are the top wide receivers to keep a watch on during the draft?

The wide receivers class for the 2025 NFL draft is considered to be quite decent. Some of the top players at the position could make a big impact on a team’s offense even though there is no real standout receiver that teams will be jostling around for.

Of course, since Colorado Buffaloes star and recent Heisman winner, Travis Hunter is likely to be selected as a cornerback, he is ruled out of this list of wide receivers. Otherwise, hands down Hunter would be the best wideout in this year’s draft class. Hunter is likely to be selected in the top 5 and he is willing to play on both sides of the ball if the team that drafts him allows him to do so.

Top 7 Wideout Prospects at the 2025 NFL Draft

It is important to note that several scouts and analysts perceive players in a different manner and thus no list can be perfect. Having said that, here is a list of 7 top wide receivers in the 2025 NFL draft as per the general consensus.

Tetairoa McMillan – Arizona Wildcats

The first wide receiver to be taken off the board is expected to be Tetairoa McMillan who played his collegiate football for the Arizona Wildcats. McMillan has great hand-eye coordination and his ability to snag contested high catches is an advantage. At 6 feet 4 inches, he will be one of the taller receivers on the field.

The 22-year-old had 3,423 receiving yards and 26 touchdowns in his three-year career with the Wildcats. Teams that need help at WR1 should be interested in his ability to win the 50-50 balls and the ease with which he can change directions while running routes.

Matthew Golden – Texas Longhorns

Matthew Golden should in all likelihood be the second receiver to be selected in this draft. Golden played three years of collegiate football, spending the first two with the Houston Cougars before transferring to the Longhorns in 2024. He had nearly 1,000 yards in 16 games last season with 9 touchdown grabs.

Golden’s strengths lie in his speed and athleticism which makes it difficult to defend him. He has the ability to leave defenders behind with his explosive speed as well as create separation through his route-running skills. His speed was on full display at the NFL Combine where he ran his 40-yard dash in just 4.29 seconds to finish second overall.

Emeka Egbuka – Ohio State Buckeyes

Emeka Egbuka from Ohio State is a natural pass catcher who makes life easy for his quarterback with a big target to aim at. He has good, soft hands and is able to catch the ball on the run and take it ahead. Egbuka is yet another talent from the Buckeyes with the ability to create separation at will.

Luther Burden III – Missouri Tigers

One of the best runners with the ball after a catch, Luther Burden III is an explosive wideout. He played all three years of his collegiate career with the Missouri Tigers earning first-team All-SEC honors in 2023 and 2024. Although he has relatively smaller hands, he rarely drops the ball. Another positive trait of his is the ability to track the deep ball well.

Jayden Higgins Cyclones – Iowa State

22-year-old receiver Jayden Higgins out of Iowa State had two highly productive years with the Cyclones. His 140 receptions yielded 2,166 receiving yards and 15 touchdowns. Higgins also had a strong showing at this year’s Combine. Physically he is a tall and strong receiver who wins with his hands and has a good feel for contested catches coming down with the ball more often than not.

Jack Bech – TCU Horned Frogs

Jack Bech from TCU is another receiver with a safe pair of hands who rarely drops the ball. He is adept at fighting for the 50-50 ball, Bech was named the 2025 Senior Bowl MVP. The TCU alum is also one of the better zone-breaking receivers who can find open spaces where he sits for the ball. After the catch, Bech is known for his tackle-breaking abilities as well.

Tre Harris – Ole Miss Rebels

Not one of the fastest receivers on the field, but a highly effective one is Tre Harris from Ole Miss. Harris is recognized for his ability to track the deep ball well, win contested catches, break tackles, and be quite productive after the catch. The 23-year-old from Lafayette, Louisiana played three seasons with the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs before transferring to Ole Miss in 2023. At Ole Miss, Harris caught 114 passes for 2,015 yards and 15 touchdowns.
