Desperate Times in Cleveland As the Browns Use 5 of Their 30 Visits on This One Position

Cleveland spends one-sixth of its allotted visits for just one position!

As per the league policy, each team has an opportunity to invite 30 draft candidates to their facility for further interaction and to get to know the players better. It gives teams the chance to figure out which players they see fit to join their organization and to develop a draft plan depending on how the board falls during draft days.

Since the league allows only a limited number of players for each team, franchises have to be calculative in the way they approach the 30-visit invites. Overall, there are several positions to look after on the football turf ranging from the offensive side, defensive side, and even special teams for that matter.

Some of the major positions that may require multiple players to be approached for invites include quarterbacks, wide receivers, and O-linemen on offense while the defense features edge rushers, D-linemen, and linebackers. Having said that, the Cleveland Browns seem to be in desperation mode as they have spent as many as 5 visits on just one position.

Browns Struggling With Quarterback Spot

It is common knowledge by now that Cleveland has major concerns they need to address under center. With starting quarterback Deshaun Watson out for possibly the entire 2025 campaign, and Kenny Pickett not seen as a starting caliber QB, the position needs to be filled with a quality player.

The good news is that the Browns have the number 2 overall pick and thus have the option of drafting virtually any signal caller they wish, except maybe Cam Ward as he may go number one overall to the Titans. And, it seems that Cleveland is doing all that it can to try and secure their next franchise quarterback through the upcoming draft. As per reports, the Browns have recently held visits with Jalen Milroe from Alabama, Jaxson Dart from Mississippi, and Tyler Shough from Louisville. Milroe is said to have had an excellent session during his visit with the Browns.

However, the story doesn’t end there, as Cleveland has also had meetings with the top two quarterbacks in this year’s draft class – Cam Ward and Shedeur Sanders. That means the Browns have used 5 out of their allocated top-30 visits for the quarterback position as they continue their search for answers under center.

However, the key thing to read into this is that the Browns may not be completely sold on the likes of Ward and Sanders which is why they are exploring more options for the most important position on the field. If that is the case, they may even decide to use an altogether different approach by drafting a top player such as Travis Hunter or Abdul Carter with their first-round pick while revisiting their quarterback position in the next round.
