Meet the parents behind boxing superstar Canelo Alvarez's rise to fame.
Canelo “Saul” Alvarez is a professional boxer from Mexico who currently holds the WBA, WBC, WBO, and The Ring super middleweight titles. Known for his strong body punches and solid defense, he has built an impressive professional record of 62 wins, two losses, and two draws. He began his pro career at just 15 years old, turning professional due to a lack of amateur opponents in his weight class.
Saul gained wider attention in 2011 after winning the WBC light middleweight title and went on to face several major names, including Floyd Mayweather Jr., Miguel Cotto, and Amir Khan. His first career loss came in 2013 against Mayweather Jr. via majority decision. Nearly a decade later, in May 2022, he suffered his second defeat, this time by unanimous decision to Dmitry Bivol.
