The 2025 NFL draft came to an end on April 26, following the standard three-day extravaganza. This year’s draft, which was held in Green Bay, Wisconsin, had a total of 257 picks from its customary 7 rounds. Former Miami Hurricanes quarterback Cam Ward was the number one overall pick selected by the Tennessee Titans, while this year’s Mr. Irrelevant was defensive back Kobee Minor selected by the New England Patriots.

5 teams, including the Ravens, Raiders, Patriots, 49ers, and the Seahawks, had the most selections with 11 each, while the Falcons, Vikings, and the Commanders each had the fewest picks with only three each.

This year’s draft had a couple of surprises along the way, with the most notable ones coming from former Colorado Buffaloes stars Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter. Sanders, who was projected to be a first-round pick, and even in consideration for the top 3 at one point in time before the draft, fell all the way to round 5, making it the most interesting storyline of the draft.

On the other hand, two-way player Travis Hunter went second overall, but was selected by the Jacksonville Jaguars, who traded up from the number five spot with the Cleveland Browns. Several experts believed that the Browns should have drafted Hunter themselves, as he is considered to be a special talent heading into the professional league. In any case, now that the 2025 NFL draft is well and truly over, let us take a brief look at next year’s draft details.

2026 NFL Draft Location and Dates

The 2026 NFL draft is slated to be held in the city of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The site for the event will be around Point State Park and Acrisure Stadium, which is the home of the Pittsburgh Steelers. Pittsburgh was chosen as the host city on May 22, 2024.

The three-day event will be held from Thursday, April 23, to Saturday, April 25, with round 1 being held on the first day, followed by rounds 2 and 3 on day 2, and the remaining rounds on the third day, as is the customary schedule of the NFL.

How Does the NFL Decide Where To Hold the Draft?

The first NFL draft that took place was in 1936, and it was held in Philadelphia. Since then, other cities such as New York, Chicago, Milwaukee, Washington D.C., and Pittsburgh all held the draft in various years until 1964. From 1965 to 2014, the league held the draft in New York City.

In 2015, the league decided to hold the draft in a different city each year. Cities are now allowed to submit a bid for hosting the draft, and all 32 franchise owners then vote on where the next draft should be held. As per the latest reports, the 2027 NFL draft will be held in Washington D.C.

Washington D.C. will hold the 2027 NFL Draft on the National Mall, where the Washington Monument stands.
