Stephanie Vaquer’s face paint honors the Japanese tradition called Kintsugi. In this tradition, people take an item that is broken and fill that item will silver and gold to make it complete and whole again.

Stephanie Vaquer had suffered a fracture in that same area of her face in her only second match in wrestling. Her face paint is a reminder of the injury that she suffered and is also a reminder of the silver and gold that was used to fix her fractured face. “The Dark Angel” has since then worn the face paint to honor the efforts made to heal her face from the fracture.
