Daniel Dubois aka “Dynamite” is one of the brightest prospects for boxing today. He is 22-2-0 in terms of his record with 21 of those victories coming from knockouts. He holds a staggering 95% knockout-to-win ratio. We can talk about his wins all day but let’s talk about his losses. His first loss came against Joe Joyce in 2020 after a fractured orbital bone and nerve damage forced him to take a knee. Despite bouncing back in 2022, he lost again and this time to the great Oleksandr Usyk in a bid for multiple world titles.

Despite the losses, Dubois remained undeterred and continued his journey where he beat Jarrell Miller, and Filip Hrgovic, and the latter earned him the IBF interim heavyweight title. When Usyk vacated the IBF belt in 2024, Dubois was elevated to full champion status.

So far his toughest and arguably the biggest win came against his fellow countryman Anthony Joshua in the fifth round. He dropped Joshua multiple times and displayed complete dominance. Soon after, he was set to take on Joseph Parker in Saudi Arabia on February 22nd but that has been cancelled. Let us find out why.

What happened to Daniel Dubois?

Dubois, the IBF heavyweight champ, was forced to withdraw from his scheduled title defense against Joseph Parker, due to an illness. There is no information regarding the nature of his illness so far.

Multiple reports state that the champ fell ill in the lead-up to the bout and it is a shame that the fans will not get this fight for now. According to BBC Sport Parker said “If he (Dubois) is ill, I hope he gets better soon and I’m looking forward to Saturday and having a great show.”

Who will Joseph Parker fight now at The Last Crecendo?

Joseph Parker will now fight Congolese Boxer Martin Bakole instead of Dubois in Saudi Arabia. Parker is 35-3-0 in his career so far. Out of his 35 wins, 23 of those were won via knockouts and 12 via decision. Meanwhile his opponent Bakole has fought in 22 bouts so far. He has won 21 of his fights, 16 of them coming via knockouts, and has suffered only one loss.
