Dricus Du Plessis Gives A Unique Take On Potential Jon Jones vs. Tom Aspinall Showdown

Eric Divakaran

Middleweight UFC champion, Dricus Du Plessis, is one of the best fighters we’ve witnessed in recent memory. He has beaten fighters such as Israel Adesanya, Sean Strickland (twice), Robert Whittaker, and now could take on the undefeated, Khamzat Chimaev. As we all know, he’s a huge fan of the UFC and has tremendous respect for his peers, especially if you’re some of the best fighters of all time like Bones, or better known as Jon Jones.

In the heavyweight division of UFC, there’s been a lot of anticipation for a fight to go down between Bones and Tom Aspinall. Jon Jones is arguably the greatest UFC fighter we’ve ever seen, regardless of weight divisions. Whereas Aspinall has only lost one fight after coming in the UFC and is hungry to take down the GOAT. Tom Aspinall previously stated that he is ready to fight Jones, if given the chance. Meanwhile Jones and UFC president Dana White, are still in negotiations about Jones’ next and possibly final UFC fight.

Du Plessis recently gave his prediction on who would win the fight between Jones and Aspinall. Let us look at what Du Plessis said.

Du Plessis thinks Jon Jones would come out on top

Du Plessis thinks that Jon Jones should not be doubted anymore. He also thinks that if Jones vs Aspinall was to take place, Jon Jones may come out on top. Here is what he is said;

“(Jon Jones vs) Tom Aspinall fight, let me tell you this, it’s a fight I don’t need to see because I love Aspinall. I think he’s phenomenal” Du Plessis continued “In the heavyweight division, he (Aspinall) has grappling, wrestling, incredible striking, you don’t see that with heavyweights… Jon Jones is years ahead of everybody especially at heavyweight. I want Jon Jones to retire unbeaten and Aspinall goes on to be the next big thing.”

“Jon Jones being the warrior that he is, he says ‘Pay me enough and I’m doing it.’ Aspinall wants it (too). One of them has to lose that fight. You look at it and you go Aspinall is probably gonna win… If you ask me that I say No No No. We said that so many times with Jon Jones and he makes it look easy. The world wants to see this.”

Will Jon Jones fight Tom Aspinall?

It is not known if Jones wants to take on Aspinall but we do know that Tom is ready to go. Jon Jones also previously stated that he wants to fight “established champions,” rather than “dangerous up-and-comers,” like Aspinall is. Bones has expressed a lot of interest in taking on UFC light heavyweight champ Alex Pereira instead of Aspinall.

According to various reports, Jones is more after a huge payday and if he were to take on Aspinall, Dana White and the UFC will have to empty their pockets most certainly!

I cover the National Football League and things cannot get better than that. I always dreamed to play football or basketball professionally since I’m built like a Running Back. But now that I can’t, since I’m technically in the “Unc” age, I thought why not pick a career in sports industry? So here I am, doing what I love, and hoping that the Commanders win the Super Bowl. I give love to players when it’s due, but can be critical about their performances at the same time. Enough about me, now let my articles do all the talking.
