Shavkhat Rakhmonov Injury Update: What happened to Shavkhat Rakhmonov?

Eric Divakaran

Shavkhat Rakhmonov fights in the welterweight division of the UFC and has a flawless record so far in his career. He is 19-0-0 so far and has looked unstoppable. The number 2 ranked fighter has beaten the likes of Stephen Thompson, Geoff Neal, and most recently Ian Machado Garry who had a 15-0-0 record himself before Rakhmonov handed him his first loss. In fact, he has been so dominant thus far that apart from his fight against Garry, Rakhmonov has finished all of his 18 opponents.

Rakhmonov is an excellent all-round type fighter who can finish his fights through submission or knockouts. With all that dominance in display, many believed that he had what it takes to beat Belal Muhammad for the Welterweight title. Rakhmonov and Muhammad were set to square off in UFC 315 for the welterweight title. However, Rakhmonov has pulled away from the fight and announced that an injury forced him to withdraw. Let’s find out more.

Shavkhat Rakhmonov announced that he will not fight in UFC 315 against Belal Muhammad

Rakhmonov announced on X (formerly known as twitter) that even though UFC offered him a title shot, he will not be fighting against Belal Muhammad in UFC 315 again. This time due to a knee injury that Rakhmonov suffered after fighting Garry in UFC 310.

This is the second time that the fight has been cancelled between the two welterweight fighters. Previously, Muhammad and Rakhmonov were supposed to fight in UFC 310 but Belal was forced to withdraw due to a bad bone infection. Shavkhat instead fought against Gary, and won the fight via decision.

When will Shavkhat Rakhmonov be back from his injury?

Currently it is not know when Rakhmonov will be back from his knee injury. There are also speculations that Rakhmonov could be going through an MCL injury which takes about 1-3 weeks if it’s a Grade 1 injury, 4-6 weeks if it’s Grade 2, and 6 weeks or more if it’s Grade 3.

Who will Belal Muhammad fight instead of Rakhmonov?

Belal Muhammad will now take on Jack Della Maddalena, who will be replacing Rakhmonov for the main event of UFC 315 on May 10th, 2025. After the announcement was made by UFC CEO, Dana White, Rakhmonov thanked UFC for the opportunity to fight for the title.

We are still left wondering and thirsting for the epic fight between the two best-of-the-best fighters in the welterweight division. Whoever comes out on top in UFC 315, will possibly have to defend his title against Rakhmonov soon after.

I cover the National Football League and things cannot get better than that. I always dreamed to play football or basketball professionally since I’m built like a Running Back. But now that I can’t, since I’m technically in the “Unc” age, I thought why not pick a career in sports industry? So here I am, doing what I love, and hoping that the Commanders win the Super Bowl. I give love to players when it’s due, but can be critical about their performances at the same time. Enough about me, now let my articles do all the talking.
