Ryan Garcia’s last bout was against Devin Haney on April 2024. This was revealed via two tests that he undertook before the fight on April 20, 2024. However, the Voluntary Anti-Doping Association (VADA) only revealed this after Ryan Garcia defeated Devin Haney. VADA revealed that Ryan Garcia had tested positive for using Ostarine, in two separate tests as per BBC Sport. This is a non-steroid drug that helps in muscle growth. It has been banned by the World Anti-Doping Agency since 2008. Despite Garcia claiming contamination to be the problem, his appeals were not entertained.
The New York State Athletic Commission (NYSAC) finally imposed a year long suspension on Ryan Garcia until April 20, 2025 as per BBC Sport. He also had to give up 950,000 pounds, which amounts to $1.2 million. Moreover, Garcia also had to pay a fine of 7,900 pounds, which is the same as $10,000 for his misconduct. Lastly, his bout against Devin Haney was also ruled a no-contest.

Ryan Garcia finally saw his suspension lifted by the New York State Athletic Commission (NYSAC) on April 20, 2025 as per MMA Mania. He has been cleared for his upcoming fight against Rolando Romero on May, 2025. Moreover, the vacant Welterweight title will also be on the line in this fight. This presents a chance for both of them to emerge from the fight as a champion. Moreover, Devin Haney has also challenged Ryan Garcia for a rematch as per BBC Sport-
