Ian “The Future” Machado Garry is presently one of the strongest fighters in the UFC Welterweight division. Originally from Dublin, Ireland, he earlier competed in MMA at Cage Warriors (CW) promotion in England. While there, he managed to become the CWFC Welterweight Champion. He then signed his UFC contract in 2021.

Ian Machado Garry’s first opponent in the UFC was Jordan Williams at UFC 268: Usman vs Covington 2 on November 6, 2021. “The Future” was the winner of his debut UFC fight. Since his debut, he has enjoyed an eight-fight winning streak before his first loss came at the hands of Shavkat Rakhmonov at UFC 310 on December 7, 2024. However, his fight against Daniel Rodriguez at UFC Fight Night on May 13, 2023 got him a Performance of the Night honor. Carlos “The Nightmare” Prates is not only known for being an MMA fighter. Rather, he also has Muay Thai and kickboxing skills. Hailing from Taubate, Sao Paolo, Brazil, Prates started his early MMA career in Asia. He competed for promotions like Full Metal Dojo (FMD). He also competed in ONE Championship for their Warrior Series. Carlos Prates joined Dana White’s Contender Series Season 7 in Week 4 (DWCS 7.4) and won it on August 29, 2023, thereby getting a UFC contract.

Carlos Prates faced Trevin Giles as his first professional opponent in his debut at UFC Fight Night: Hermansson vs Pyfer on February 10, 2024.
