Giants pull off a stunning upset over their divisional rivals in New York!
The Eagles vs Giants NFC East rivalry matchup had one-way traffic written all over it before the first snap of the ball. The Eagles, who had been pretty dominant until last week’s surprising loss, came into the game with a 4-1 record.
Meanwhile, the Giants at 1-4 had nothing going for them. Their week 4 win over the Chargers was a welcome change, but they came into tonight’s game without two starting wide receivers, Malik Nabers and Darius Slayton.
Despite that, the Giants played a thoroughly energetic game on both sides of the ball as they handed the Eagles their second loss (34-17) in as many weeks.

The Philadelphia Eagles received the opening kickoff and put up 3 points on the board. Saquon Barkley had a couple of big runs, going for 18 and 13 yards in the opening drive.
However, the Giants responded quickly and finished their first drive with a touchdown, thanks mainly to Jaxson Dart, who threw a couple of big passes and ran for big gains. Dart found Lil’Jordan Humphrey for a 34-yard pass, followed by a 19-yard run to the endzone.
After the Giants’ defense came up with a big stop, the offense took over for yet another touchdown. Dart found Wan’Dale Robinson for another big gain worth 26 yards. Robinson then snagged another reception and ran down the sideline for a 35-yard touchdown to go up 13-3 after missing the extra point kick.

Philadelphia then stitched together a couple of solid drives as Jalen Hurts got the passing game going. Hurts found A.J. Brown for a 30-yard gain and then hit tight end Dallas Goedert for the score, making it 13-10. Hurts went 5-of-6 passing for 61 yards on that drive.
The Hurts and Goedert connection continued as the tight end made his sixth grab of the night. The Eagles then pulled off 4 consecutive Tush Push plays as Hurts found his way into the endzone to put Philly up 17-13.

Just when it looked like the Eagles were getting into their groove, the Giants responded once again through Jaxson Dart, especially with his legs. Running back Cam Skattebo had a couple of good runs and eventually finished the drive with a touchdown as the Giants went into the half up 20-17.
The second half was more about the Giants’ defense coming up big against the Eagles, while the Giants kept adding to their lead. With just under 8 minutes to go in the third quarter, Skattebo powered his way over linebacker Zack Baun to cross the goal line as New York went up by two scores (27-17).
Brian Burns then came up with his second sack of the night on Jalen Hurts and tied Nik Bonitto of the Broncos at the top with 7 sacks on the season. Down 17-27, the Eagles were on the move early in the fourth quarter when Hurts threw his first interception of the season.
Cor’Dale Flott picked him off and ran it back all the way near the Eagles’ 20-yard line. Skattebo then made his way into the endzone for his third score of the night as the Giants took a comfortable 34-17 lead, which would be the final score of the game.

Jalen Hurts had a decent passing game, throwing for 283 yards, including 1 touchdown and 1 pick, but on the ground, he was held to just 13 yards from 7 carries and a touchdown. Saquon Barkley was held under 60 rushing yards, while Dallas Goedert was the pick of the pass-catchers, finishing with 9 receptions for 110 yards.
For the Giants, Jaxson Dart put in an amazing performance even though he had only 195 passing yards and a touchdown. Dart also added 58 yards worth of rushing and a touchdown, which turned out to be crucial within the context of the game. Cam Skattebo finished with 98 yards and 3 rushing touchdowns from 19 carries, while Wan’Dale Robinson had 84 yards from 6 receptions.

After starting my professional career as a French-to-English translator, working as a content writer is a new adventure for me. I started out in the sports media field for two main reasons: my love for sports in general, especially the NFL, NBA, and Tennis, as well as my passion for writing. The best part of this job is that I get to write a variety of pieces with the freedom to explore content from various angles. It also enables me to stay up to date with the sporting world, which otherwise can be difficult to do in the day-to-day grind. In a world full of chaos, sports unite and entertain like nothing else!
