The Buccaneers' schedule could see them win the NFC South in the 2026-27 NFL season!
It was truly a tale of two halves for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last season. The NFC South franchise started off with an impressive 6-2 record before their bye Week in Week 9. However, after that, the Bucs went 2-7 to finish the season 8-9 as they missed out on a playoff spot.
Baker Mayfield and the offense started off well despite missing wide receiver Chris Godwin during the initial games. But, rookie wideout Emeka Egbuka started the season red hot, quickly developing chemistry with Mayfield.
Unfortunately, while Godwin returned, Tampa lost its most valuable receiver, Mike Evans, to a hamstring injury, which triggered their downfall. By the end of the season, the Buccaneers were mid-tier in scoring (22.4 points per game) and in scoring defense (24.2 points per game). With Mike Evans testing the market as a free agent, it will be interesting to see how the Bucs roster looks at the start of the next season.
The Buccaneers’ 17-game regular season schedule will feature 6 games against their divisional opponents, the Saints, Panthers, and the Falcons. They will also play 4 games against one interconference division, which will be the NFC North this time.
Tampa will also play 4 games against an intraconference division, and as per the league’s rotation policy, they will be going up against the teams from the AFC North. Last season, the Bucs finished second in their division, and therefore, the remaining three games will be against two second-placed teams from the NFC and one second-placed team from the AFC, which will be the NFC East, NFC West, and the AFC West.
This year, the NFC teams have the advantage of playing 9 home games while only 8 games will be on the road.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will have a relatively easier schedule than most teams in the league, with sources giving their schedule a (.491) rating. The Buccaneers’ strength of schedule places them in the 21st position for the upcoming 2026-27 NFL season.
A detailed look at the opponents the Buccaneers will face off against in the upcoming season shows a good mix of quality teams as well as struggling teams. For example, Tampa Bay will be going up against the likes of the Packers, Rams, Chargers, Bears, Steelers, and the Panthers, all of whom made the postseason last year.
However, the Ravens and Lions, who missed the playoffs, could still be tough opponents in their way. Joe Burrow and the Bengals, the Vikings, and Dak Prescott and the Cowboys can be tricky opponents as well, whereas the Saints, Falcons, and Browns are the easier opposition, at least at this moment.
With the way the Buccaneers started their season last year, Tampa Bay should have easily made the postseason. Baker Mayfield and the offense were rolling along pretty well, but a major slump after the bye week forced them to watch the playoffs unfold from the luxury of their homes.
The Buccaneers still boast a decent roster, and even if Mike Evans doesn’t return, the Florida-based team should still be in good shape with Egbuka, Godwin, and company. The biggest advantage for the Bucs remains the NFC South division, which really doesn’t have much competition and is Tampa Bay’s division to lose again in the upcoming season.
Our Prediction: Buccaneers to make the playoffs in the 2026-27 NFL season.
According to the latest Super Bowl odds on FanDuel, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have (+4500) odds to win Super Bowl 61 next season. With these odds, the Buccaneers sit 19th in the league with odds to hoist the Lombardi Trophy next season.
Injuries to key players at different times in the regular season were one of the reasons the Buccaneers underperformed in the second half of the season. But, to say that was the only case would be an understatement.
Key mistakes, mental errors, and penalties during crucial games in the season were also a major reason the Bucs didn’t make it to the postseason. These are issues that can only be addressed by the coaching staff and the players, and unless that happens, the Super Bowl window won’t be in sight.
Moreover, the defense was also a disappointment last season, in particular when it came to their pass defense. Tampa Bay ranked a lowly 26th in passing yards allowed per game and was even worse, ranking 31st in red-zone defense. Multiple factors, such as poor coverage, missed tackles, and overall lack of discipline from the linebackers, were the major reasons.
Teams with higher odds to win the Super Bowl were much more dominant on both sides of the ball, but their defense in particular was of high quality.

Within the Conference, the Buccaneers have (+2200) odds to win the NFC, as per FanDuel. This currently puts Tampa in ninth place in the conference, with teams such as the Seahawks, Rams, Eagles, Lions, and others ahead of them.
Similar to their chances of winning the Super Bowl, the Bucs’ chances of winning the NFC are also slim. Several teams, such as the Rams, Seahawks, Eagles, and more, have an overall better roster, well-equipped to pull off a win even when things aren’t up to the mark.
The Buccaneers’ odds to win the NFC South are set at (+155), as per FanDuel. Those odds reflect that Tampa is expected to top the division ahead of the Falcons, Saints, and the Panthers, respectively.
Interestingly, though, the markets see the Bucs as the division winners of the NFC South for the upcoming season. Last year, the Carolina Panthers, who won the division, are now last as per the odds.
While the Bucs certainly have the best shot at reclaiming their authority at the top of the NFC South, the Falcons were close on their heels last season. The Saints also had a much better second half of the season, and there is always a possibility that one of the other three teams can clinch the division.
That being said, Tampa does not have to do too much in the offseason, as they have the roster in place, and a few changes here and there should be enough. The draft and free agency should be monitored closely, as well as the situation with Mike Evans and whether he decides to stay or look for pastures new.
