NFL Free Agency News: Which Top Players Are Still Up for Grabs?

Eric D

The NFL Free Agency has been a wild ride. We saw a lot of players find new teams to play for, sign record breaking deals, and extend some of their contracts. Some of the trades that happened, were expected and some were not. For example we saw Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins sign record breaking deals with the Bengals, or how about the trade where the Rams signed WR Davante Adams and let go of the former Super Bowl MVP in Cooper Kupp, or Sam Darnold signing with the Seahawks, or the Commanders trading for Deebo Samuels. Each time NFL Insider Adam Schefter dropped a news, we were shocked for most part.

Majority of the players have already signed with new teams but that doesn’t mean that the offseason is over. There are still a lot of talented players in the free agency waiting to be signed by new teams. So today we look at the best remaining players that are still yet to be signed by a team. Let’s get right into it.

Best Remaining Players in the NFL Free Agency

Aaron Rodgers, QB

  • After the Jets released Rodgers, after a disappointing tenure, the 4x MVP is still trying to find a new home. Recently, Rodgers met with the Steelers and are still in the talking stages. Rodgers was also linked to getting signed by the Minnesota Timberwolves, the Giants, and many other teams who need some veteran QB services. The 41 year old is still waiting to be signed by a new team.

Russell Wilson, QB

  • After Rodgers visited the Steelers’ facility, it looks more and more like Wilson will be out of Pittsburgh soon. He’s already met with teams such as the New York Giants and the Cleveland Browns, and after Myles Garrett indicated that he may know who’s probably coming to play for the Browns, we’ll be surprised to see if Wilson still ends up staying with the Steelers.

Rasul Douglas, CB

  • Douglas is one of the top corners that is still available. He had entered last season with a contract extension and this led many to wonder if Douglas would be out of the team come the offseason. Now that he’s a free agent, it’s surprising how nobody has decided to sign him on yet. His stats remained decent last season but it’s his age that may have teams hesitant to sign the CB.

Stefon Diggs, WR

  • After the Bills traded away Stefon Diggs last season, we all were expecting big things from the WR playing for the Houston Texans. However an ACL injury derailed his season and his speed (which is some of the most needed attributes for a receiver) is also slipping away. However he is still a great route runner and there are reports of him potentially being signed by the Patriots soon.

Amari Cooper, WR

  • Cooper is starting to decline as a player and it is quite expected as he is 31 years of age. Last season he only had 547 receiving yards on 14 games played, and caught only 44 receptions (career low). Cooper can still provide a team with detailed route running. He has crossed the 1000 receiving yards mark for seven straight seasons, and the Raiders, the Chargers, and the Cowboys have all shown interest in signing him.

Asante Samuel Jr., CB

  • Even though Samuel Jr. only played in four games due to a shoulder injury last season, he is still some of the best corners available. Samuel Jr. has played for fours seasons for the Chargers and has already accumulated 6 interceptions, 176 combined tackles, and 3 tackles for loss. He’s only 25 years old and has potential to develop into an even better corner.

Mike Hilton, CB

  • Hilton is 31 years of age and even though the Bengals’ defense was horrible last season, it was not particularly because of Hilton. He is still a great slot corner in the game and remains to be a great veteran presence. Hilton is still a free agent and is yet to be signed by any team.
