Aaron Rodgers has been looking for a new home and is yet to be signed by any team despite being a 4x MVP winner. The talent has unquestionably been there for Rodgers his entire career, but his age and lack of success in the playoffs, has diminished his value in the league. Rodgers had signed with the New York Jets in April of 2023 for a three-year deal.
There was a lot of Jets’ fans hoping that with the addition of Rodgers, the franchise would return back to its glory days and start winning again. Instead, Rodgers tore his Achilles in the very first game of the 2023-24 season and missed the rest of the year. So fans hoped that he would make a comeback in the 2024-25 season, but instead of going into the playoffs their struggles continued. The Jets went 5-12 last season and did not even sniff the playoffs.
Recently in the offseason, Rodgers was let go by the New York Jets and have now signed Justin Fields instead. The 41 year old has been looking for a new team to play for ever since, but the problem is there aren’t many teams willing to sign him. After all, he’s in the latter stages of his career and has been disappointing the last few seasons. However, the Pittsburgh Steelers recently emerged as a team for Rodgers to sign with, and things are starting to develop between the two. Let us discuss further.

According to CBS NFL Insider Jonathan Jones, Rodgers visited the Steelers’ facility today. Sr. NFL reporter Albert Beer tweeted that Rodgers met several important figures in the Steelers organization including offensive coordinator Arthur Smith, and head coach Mike Tomlin. He also spent time with GM Omar Khan, and it is reported that there was no deal made today but the team and Rodgers will continue to be in talks moving forward.
The Steelers’ meeting with Aaron Rodgers ended about a half-hour ago. He spent time with GM Omar Khan, coach Mike Tomlin and OC Arthur Smith. No deal, but there was no expectation that would happen today.

The sides will keep talking.
Rodgers threw for 3897 passing yards, 28 passing touchdowns, on 11 interceptions, was sacked 40 times, and had 63.0% pass completion rate. While he may be on the decline, Rodgers can still produce and the Steelers desperately need a quality quarterback who can make plays. Now that they have signed WR D.K. Metcalf, and have WR George Pickens (who’s been on an intense trade rumor as of lately), adding Rodgers could help the Steelers win some games next season.
