Tyrese Proctor
Tyrese Proctor, born on April 1, 2004, in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, is a professional basketball player who currently plays for the Cleveland Cavaliers. His parents are Melissa and Roderick Proctor, and he has a sister named Kaila. His father, Roderick, also played basketball at Mississippi College. Proctor attended Trinity Grammar School in Sydney, NSW, and Lake Ginninderra in Canberra, ACT, as well as the NBA Global Academy branch in Canberra, Australia, and the Australian Institute of Sport. He is 1.93 m tall and weighs 84 kg. His playing position is point guard/shooting guard, and he shoots with his right hand.
Proctor played college basketball for the Duke Blue Devils from 2022 to 2025. He was originally committed to Duke for the class of 2023 but reclassified in June 2022 to play in the 2022-23 season. As a freshman in 2022-23, he was named to the ACC All-Freshman Team. He played in all 36 games, starting 34, and was the team’s third-leading scorer with 9.4 points per game, in addition to leading the team with 119 assists. In his sophomore year (2023-24), he played 32 games, averaging 10.5 points, 3 rebounds, and 3.7 assists per game. In his junior year (2024-25), Proctor played 38 games, averaging 12.4 points, 3 rebounds, and 2.2 assists per game. During his time at Duke, he was a two-time ACC Tournament champion (2023 and 2025) and a two-time ACC All-Academic Team honoree. He also earned Third Team All-ACC in 2025. His assist-to-turnover ratio of 2.33 ranks him fourth in program history.
In April 2025, Tyrese Proctor declared for the NBA Draft. He was selected as the 49th overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft by the Cleveland Cavaliers, in the second round. He officially began his professional career with the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2025 and wears jersey number 24.
