Cedric Coward
Cedric De’Von Coward was born on September 11, 2003, in Fresno, California. He is an American professional basketball player who plays as a point guard. Coward’s college career spanned several institutions. He started at Willamette University, playing from 2021 to 2022. During his time at Willamette, he was named Northwest Conference Freshman of the Year and earned First-Team Northwest Conference honors in 2022. He then transferred to Eastern Washington, where he played from 2022 to 2024. In the 2022-23 season, he played in all 34 games, averaging 7.3 points and 5.6 rebounds per game, and led the team in steals with 27, while ranking second in blocks with 21. He also achieved the second triple-double in Eastern Washington history, which earned him Big Sky Player of the Week honors. His performance improved in the 2023-24 season, where he earned First-Team Big Sky honors. For the 2024-25 season, Coward played for Washington State. Throughout his college career, his statistics include a career field goal percentage of 0.595, a three-point percentage of 0.388, and a free throw percentage of 0.832. He averaged 11.8 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 26.5 minutes per game in 72 games, starting 40 of them. In the 2025 NBA Draft, Cedric Coward was selected 11th overall in the first round by the Portland Trail Blazers. He was subsequently traded to the Memphis Grizzlies for Yang Hansen and future draft picks. Coward signed with the Grizzlies on July 8, 2025, marking the beginning of his professional NBA career (2025-present). He wears jersey number 23 for the Memphis Grizzlies.
