Here’s the NBA Daily Recap for Feb. 25, 2025, where we witnessed seven matchups. The day belonged to the Lakers vs Mavericks but we saw top-class performances from other games as well. Players like Luka Doncic, Ja Morant, Jayson Tatum and Antetokounmpo made differences in the game.
From Luka Doncic’s first matchup against former team, Dallas Mavericks to Jimmy Butler-era adding one more win for the Warriors, let’s go through the key highlights from the NBA action on Tuesday.

Luka Doncic scored a memorable triple-double on his first game against the former team and the Lakers edged out the Mavericks 107-99 in an intense matchup. He tallied 19 points, 15 rebounds and 12 assists. Luka had a handshake moment with Kyrie Irving before tip-off, who led the Mavs with 35 points. Lakers fans chanted “Thank you, Nico!” for Mavs general manager.
Klay Thompson scored 22 points including straight 11 in the fourth quarter to tie the game at 91 points. Lakers had a 16-8 run in the end to close the game. LeBron James scored 16 of his 27 points in the fourth quarter. Max Christie also faced his former team and scored all 10 of his points in the first half.
Boston Celtics extended their winning streak to six games after beating the Toronto Raptors comfortably. Jaylen Brown scored 24 points, and Derrick White added 22. Payton Pritchard dropped 20 points and Jayson Tatum had 19 points and 11 assists. Boston are 24-6 on the road in the regular season.
RJ Barrett led the Raptors with 22 points and Scottie Barnes added 21. Gradey Dick scored 12 points and Immanuel Quickley had 10. Toronto shot 5 for 32 from 3-point range which is fewest of the season. Toronto cut the 17-point deficit to seven in the fourth but couldn’t prevail seventh loss in nine games.
Cleveland Cavaliers handed a blowout loss to the Orlando Magic and improved to an NBA-best 48-10. Ty Jerome scored 20 points in 21 minutes. Max Strus, Evan Mobley and De’Andre Hunter scored 17 points apiece. Cavs played without All-Star guard Darius Garland because of a left hip contusion.
Paolo Banchero led the Magic with 26 points. Franz Wagner scored 19 points and Orlando shot 5 for 28 on 3-pointers. Cole Anthony left the game with a hyperextended left knee in the third quarter.
New Orleans Pelicans came out from a 19-point deficit in the first half to complete a two-game home game sweep against the San Antonio Spurs. Trey Murphy III added 24 points, and Zion Williamson chipped in with 18. Yves Missi scored 10 points and 11 rebounds, while Kelly Olynyk grabbed 12 rebounds.
Devin Vassell paced the Spurs with 20 points. De’Aaron Fox dropped 15 points and nine assists while shooting 6-for-21. New Orleans sparked a 33-16 run before the halftime. The Pelicans outscored the Spurs 66-44 in the paint.
Ja Morant and Jaylen Wells produced a dunk with 9.1 seconds left in overtime as the Memphis Grizzlies beat the Phoenix Suns 151-148. Morant scored 29 points, including final 11 points in fourth quarter. Jaren Jackson Jr. added 28 points and Desmond Bane had 25. The Grizzlies now moved into a tie for second place in the West.
Five players scored at least 20 points for the Suns for the first time since 1990. Devin Booker scored 28 points and 10 assists, and Kevin Durant added 26. Bradley Beal contributed 24 points while Bol Bol added a season-high 23. Grayson Allen chipped in with 21 points and the Suns dropped sixth in seven games.
Houston Rockets edged out Milwaukee Bucks in a close encounter where Amen Thompson was ejected for a foul on Antetokounmpo. Jalen Green scored 25 points and Alperen Sengun had 23. Green and Sengun made straight free throws to win for Houston when game was tied at 95-all.
Antetokounmpo scored 27 points and 10 rebounds and Milwaukee snapped their four-game winning streak. Damian Lillard scored 22 points and Brook Lopez added 12, including 8 rebounds. The Bucks are 12-16 on the road this season while Rockets improved to 19-9 at home.
Golden State Warriors routed the Charlotte Hornets for their 3,000th franchise victory. Stephen Curry and Draymond Green each scored 15 points. Buddy Hield added 16 points off the bench and Warriors won four straight games. Golden State also held an on-court ceremony at halftime to celebrate 10th anniversary of 2015 Championship triumph.
KJ Simpson scored 16 points and six rebounds for the Hornets, who played without guard LaMelo Ball. Charlotte lost third straight game with a margin of at least 36 points and averaged 89.3 points during the process. Warriors moved to eighth in the West and improved to 6-1 since acquiring Jimmy Butler.
